Le Guen confirms Clement interest

Former Rangers boss Paul Le Guen has confirmed he wants to take midfielder Jeremy Clement to Paris Saint-Germain.

Clement, 22, has been linked with a return to France since Le Guen left Rangers on 4 January and agreed to manage the Parisian club.

"It's true that we're interested," said Le Guen. "I had him at Lyon, I had him at Glasgow."

Rangers boss Walter Smith said there had been no bids for Clement, who has indicated he wants to leave Ibrox.

Le Guen said: "He is a young player, with experience both abroad and at a big club like Lyon.

"He is a left-sided player who can bring us new possibilities. It isn't the only option because we know it won't be easy, but he is one."

Clement said he was disappointed at Le Guen's departure.

"Paul Le Guen would like me to move during this transfer window. Rangers aren't trying to offload me, but I am less motivated here now."

Signed from Lyon in the summer, Clement has impressed for the Light Blues in an otherwise disappointing season.

New Rangers boss Walter Smith said no players would be allowed to leave the club unless suitable replacements were found.

But with a busy time looming for potential transfers, Smith may yet grant Clement his wish to move.

Despite the Parisians being a lowly 17th in Ligue 1, Clement remains attracted to the prospect of rejoining Le Guen.

"PSG are still a big club," he added.

"Of course, they're not having a great league season, but they are managed by someone I know very well."
