TAMPA, Fla. (Jan. 18, 2007) -- Larry Coyer joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an assistant head coach, leaving the Denver Broncos after seven seasons.
Coyer will coach the defensive line in Tampa Bay. He was defensive coordinator in Denver the past four seasons, and was fired this month, less than two weeks after the Broncos concluded the season by losing five of its final seven games and missing the playoffs.
During his tenure as defensive coordinator, the Broncos made the playoffs three times. Denver began the 2006 season by not allowing a touchdown for 11 consecutive quarters, the longest stretch at the start of a season since 1942.
With the Buccaneers, Coyer inherits a line that struggled to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks with defensive end Simeon Rice missing much of the season because of injuries.
Coyer spent one season as the New York Jets defensive line coach in 1994. He joined the Broncos in 2000 and was Denver's linebackers coach for three seasons before being promoted to defensive coordinator.

Sapp was overrated...I mean where has he been since leaving Tampa Bay?
This should help out their line is not terrible, but is aging and could use some help, hopefully he can bring them back to the stage they were once at...
