Notre Dame football and baseball star Jeff Samardzija has decided to bypass the NFL and play Major League Baseball, signing a five-year, $10 million deal with the Chicago Cubs earlier today. According to the AP, "Samardzija, a 21 year-old right-hander, was the Cubs' fifth-round pick in last year's amateur draft and made seven starts for their Class A teams at Boise and Peoria last summer, posting a 2.70 ERA." I hear he's a better pitcher than a WR, so I think he made the right decision, and he should help out the Cubbies for years to come. What do you think?
he should do well with the Cubs and I really think he made the right decision, I really didn't see him going a first rounder this year and more of a late second early third, He won't bstart in the majors this year, but give him a year or two and you'll see him starting at Wrigley Field...

He's better than Drew Henson in both sports, He's a highly ranked All-American in baseball and a great pitcher with the Fighting Irish, I expect the same with the Cubs...

I was wondering what he would do. I was hoping this was the path he would take. Which I would not mind seeing him on Sundays with the Panthers. But, good choice I think. The cubs need the pitching and he is a bright young prospect. That's just a lot of money to give a kid who is fresh out of college. I hope he keeps his head on straight.
