Jones says Bledsoe returning to Dallas 'not realistic'
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he expects to have veteran receivers Terry Glenn and Terrell Owens on the roster next season.
Drew Bledsoe is another story.
"Well, I don't know that he'll retire," Jones was quoted Friday on the Dallas Morning News Web site. "That would surprise me. But it's probably not realistic to think that we could work something out here."
Bledsoe has two strikes against him. He is due a $1 million roster bonus in March and likely will count about $7.5 million against the salary cap should he return. Plus, the Cowboys have a promising young quarterback in Tony Romo, who directed Dallas into the playoffs.
Bledsoe, a 14-year veteran out of Washington State, has said that he would not want to end his career as a backup.
Bledsoe had seven touchdowns and eight interceptions in six games before getting benched.
I agree with Jerry Jones, don't expect Bledsoe in Big D next year, Romo is their guy, despite his troubles at the end of the season, he is their guy...Bledsoe will be playing next year though, but as a backup IMO, not a starter...

Yeah, I knew once Romo had a cindrella season and showed he had a bright future, Bledsoe wouldn't return in any way or matter. The cowboys should drop his contract and use his money to get a new back-up QB or streghen up the defense with it. For Bledsoe, he should retire, his days of being a starter are over and we know he doesn't fit well in the back-up postion becuase he doesn't even know how to hold the damn ball down for the kicker.
I think Parcells should stay one more year. I, personally would show Owens the door. For all the trouble he causes, and the idiotic tantrums he throws on the sidelines - he just aint worth it. Besides, while Patrick Crayton, is no TO, he's playing well enough to throw in there.
The Cowboys need some help at safety and more than anything, they need a DEFENSIVE END WHO CAN RUSH THE PASSER. Marcus Spears and Chris Canty had one sack each. It's tough to win like that.
I agree with you Johnny, and I see them going after a Safety in the draft, but I really think they are going to have to look into the free agent pool also...
Parcells is expected to make his announcement in the next 2-3 days....
