| Rangers still chasing Gow capture Rangers have not given up on signing Falkirk forward Alan Gow, although no deal is likely to be done before Saturday's Premier League matches.
Falkirk have rejected £100,000 bids from Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers for the 24-year-old.
And Bairns head coach John Hughes said he would not accept any less than £500,000 for the highly-rated player.
But Walter Smith, in his first pre-match conference as Rangers boss, said: "The clubs are in negotiations."
Smith had been on the brink of calling up Gow to his Scotland B squad before leaving the national manager's job.
The forward is out of contract in the summer and Hughes is hopeful of persuading the player to remain with the Scottish Premier League for another season.
But the Falkirk boss is willing to risk losing him for nothing rather than allow him to leave now for a nominal fee.
And he insisted that Gow would be in his own team on Saturday unless Rangers met his valuation.
"He'll be playing tomorrow and will then be heading to the Algarve with us for four days," Hughes told BBC Sport. |
