Report: OU RB Peterson to skip senior year, turn pro
Junior running back Adrian Peterson will skip his final year of eligibility at Oklahoma to make himself available for April's NFL draft, sources told the Dallas Morning News on Wednesday.
Peterson will announce his decision as early as Thursday, said the sources, who requested anonymity. While the Morning News reported that Peterson met with Sooners coach Bob Stoops on Wednesday to notify Stoops of his plan to turn pro, Oklahoma spokesman Kenny Mossman told ESPN on Wednesday night that the running back told the coach he had not yet decided.
The 6-foot-2 tailback has until the close of business Monday to declare his availability for the draft.
Peterson, who rushed for 935 yards in six games before breaking his collarbone Oct. 14, is projected to be a sure-fire first-round draft pick, if not Top 10.
Peterson set an NCAA freshman record with 1,925 rushing yards in 2004 as he helped lead Oklahoma to the BCS title game, where the Sooners lost to Southern California. He had rushed for at least 100 yards in 22 of his 30 games at Oklahoma, including nine straight to start his career.
In the Fiesta Bowl loss to Boise State on Jan. 1, he fell shy of his goal of 200 yards and even the 151 yards he needed to break 1978 Heisman Trophy winner Billy Sims' school career record of 4,118.
I kinda feel adrian peterson should return for 1 more year at oklahoma. While the draft is weak at the RB position and he will still be a top 10 pick, I feel after his season ended on such sad notes(boise state loss, injury, not winning heisman like orignally many thought) He should return and hopefully put together 1 healthy injury free year and end his college career on a better note. This comes down to money though and he might as well get his while he can.
I really think Peterson could go to Houston Texans...he'd be nearby talent to bring in some more fans from the Oklahoma area, they skipped out on bush last year and need a good running back and this could be their choice...

It sounds as if he is looking to see where he will likely end up playing. If there is a chance of him going to a team he doesn't like, will he go back for another year.
