MIAMI -- Ricky Williams, who is serving a year suspension from the NFL for violating its substance abuse policy, has passed all his drug tests and intends to apply for readmission to the NFL in April, his agent said Thursday.
Williams, who spent his year of exile with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL, had a strong relationship with former Dolphins coach Nick Saban. But despite Saban's departure to Alabama, Williams intends to return to the Dolphins, said his agent, Leigh Steinberg.
"Ricky's contract is with the Miami Dolphins and he fully intends to apply for reinstatement in April and return to play for the Dolphins," Steinberg said.
He said Williams is living in northern California, where he's practicing yoga, and that the broken arm he suffered while playing in the CFL has healed. Williams gained 231 yards on 57 carries and one touchdown and caught seven passes for 58 yards in an injury-shortened season for the Argos.
Saban, for his part, believes Williams' return can help the Dolphins.
"God knows about No. 34, but if he comes back, you win three or four more games if the guy is playing, I'm telling you," Saban said Thursday. "He's got a presence
I don't think they should allow him back. Sure sure he's a good player sure sure sure he's got skills. Yet bottom line is he is a pot-head and time after time violated his substance bi-laws. They should not allow him in. If they do they should allow any person who smokes to re-join.
Well It's kind of their fault he's back in the NFL anyway, he retired and wasn't going to come back until the Dolphins were going to make him pay 8 million dollars, giving him really no choice but to come back, I don't necessarily like him as a person, but after the Dolphins pretty much forcing him to come back even though he really didn't want to, they kind of have to keep him...

I, unlike most would let him back, if he has changed, it's not like he's coming bck if he gets in trouble again...let him back, don't make him go Canadian....
Hes not a criminal , its just pot. And I know there NFL rules but its just like Steriods, and theres tons of players who use it , get caught and still in the league. Thats not a reason not to like someone as a person. I never even met him....

It's pot people, it doesn't help you if you play high you will die.
He didn't have a good stint in the CFL, got injured and couldn't adjust to the open field. Not sure if he's worth it anymore really not because of the pot just because he isn't who he used to be.

Yea everyone makes mistakes, some people, like Williams, who make it several times, it's like smoking...wait it is smoking, you get addicted and try to stop time and time again, some people can stop right away, some people it takes 5, 6, 7 or more times...He won't be in the NFL long unless he has a good year this year, but at least let him try and finish on a good note...
