Ince harbours Inter coaching hope

Former Inter Milan midfielder and current Macclesfield manager Paul Ince has set himself the target of coaching the Serie A club in the future.

"It's an ambition to go back to Inter," said Ince ahead of Macclesfield's FA Cup third round tie with Chelsea.

"I had two great years at the San Siro. I had a great relationship with the fans and adored them.

"The owner Massimo Moratti was like a father to me and he still sends me Christmas and birthday presents."

Ince, 36, had two seasons with the Serie A giants between 1995 and 1997, before he returned to England to join Liverpool.

The Macclesfield manager added: "I left early for family rather than football reasons as we didn't want our son to miss out on his English education.

"Looking back that is one regret I have. I feel as though I cut myself short as to what could have been a great five or six years at Inter.

"If I had stayed I might have been the manager now.

"Who knows maybe in five or six years time I might have a chance to manage Inter Milan.

"To manage the club would be a dream for me."

Ince still has close friends in Italy and retains a good command of the language.

"You lose a few words, but my Italian is still good.

"I've a good friends in Italy who I speak with every week and we talk in Italian.

"I would be excited to coach over in Italy though obviously that seems a long, long way away at the moment."
