BC to meet with Steelers QB Coach

Last week, Boston College coach Tom O'Brien resigned to take over at N.C. State. The Eagles went 9-3 this season and will appear in the Meineke Bowl against Navy.

Whipple, 49, joined the Steelers in 2004. He was a college head coach for 16 years -- at New Haven (1988-93), Brown (1994-97) and Massachusetts (1998-2003), guiding the Minutemen to the Division I-AA national championship in his first season. He began his career in 1980 as an assistant coach at St. Lawrence University.

Whipple graduated from Brown, where he was the starting quarterback in 1977 and '78.
Already winning a Division I-AA national Championship really helps him out and dealing with the pro athletes, I could honestly see him in BC, but I expect them to talk to somemore guys before a final decision is made...

Thoughts?

Ya, this could be bad for the Steelers if Cowher leaves after the year too. If they hire him, I hope it is not reverse of normal, NFL coach doing bad in college lol.

I don't see Cowher going anywhere, one bad season is no reason to leave elsewhere. Injuries and retirements have effected them badly along with players leaving. Pittsburgh is slowly coming back around and next year should be back to the original state that they were in when they won the super bowl. Roethlisberger will be over his accident and should be a bit more ready to play then getting rushed in there. Cowher wont leave anywhere, but Whipple might...

Him leaving the Stealers Organization (if he does) won't be much of a loss sense he is only a QB coach, I'm sure he can be replaced easily. If I were him I would accept the job becuase it's offering much more freedom ect.
