TAMPA, Fla. -- Devil Rays pitcher Scott Kazmir expects to be ready for spring training after missing most of the second half last season because of an injured left shoulder.

The 22-year-old Kazmir was Tampa Bay's only representative at the All-Star Game this year. He pitched a perfect inning in relief, retiring Freddy Sanchez, Carlos Beltran and Albert Pujols.

Kazmir went 10-8 with a 3.24 ERA in 24 starts. The left-hander made just five starts after the All-Star break because of inflammation in his throwing shoulder.

"There's no doubt I'll be ready," Kazmir said Friday at a toy collection drive. "My shoulder feels great. It's 100 percent."

Kazmir is throwing at 90 feet as part of an offseason workout program.

He should do good for them again, he is one of their best young pitchers that they have and I'm hoping he can have a good season after his recent shoulder injury...

Thoughts?

The Mets are kicking themselves right now lol. This guy is one of my favorite pitchers, and at some point in his career, if not more than once, should win 20 games, although it might not be as a D-Ray. They have a great corps of young players though, so he might stay for that to wait till they start winning.

Good news here, Kazmir had such a great season last year and should have one this season if he is heathly. It's a plus he is heading to the off season heathly and not any kinda percent. Let's hope he has such

The mets are def kicking themselves sense the mets aren't benifiting from this deal at all.

This is not surprising news at all actually but also it's good news. I think we all expected him to return to this season healthy as can be sense he had about 7 months off. Hopefully he will repeat what he did last year and pick up off where he left off. Good luck to him and crappy Devil Rays.
