DETROIT -- Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall signed a five-year, $15-million contract extension through the 2011-12 season on Friday.
Kronwall, 25, had three assists in the first 16 games this season after playing in only 27 contests last season because of a knee injury.
He will earn $1.5 million in 2007-08, $3 million in 2008-09, $3.25 million in 2009-10, $3.5 million in 2010-11 and $3.75 million in 2011-12.
Kronwall, Detroit's first pick and the 29th overall selection in the 2000 draft, has two goals and 15 assists in 63 NHL games. He won a gold medal with Sweden at this year's Turin Olympics | Nice sign for the Detroit Red Wings, he a good solid defender who will only improve in the upcoming years...
