FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- New England Revolution forward Taylor Twellman will have surgery to repair a hernia but is expected to be back within two weeks
Twellman's surgery was scheduled for Friday in Germany, the team said Thursday.
Twellman scored 11 goals with five assists while starting all 32 games and helping the Revolution reach the MLS Cup for the second straight season. The 2005 league MVP scored the Revolution's only goal in this year's title game, but New England lost to the Houston Dynamo 1-1 in a penalty kick shootout.
Twellman was an alternate for the 2006 U.S. World Cup squad.
