Multiple media outlets in New York reported on Saturday that the Mets were close to completing a deal with free agent Moises Alou. Newsday said the deal would be for at least two years at $8 million annually.

The 40-year-old Alou batted .301, hit 22 home runs and drove in 74 runs for the San Francisco Giants last season. But he played in only 98 games due to a variety of injuries, including a back strain. Floyd, who is also a free agent, is coming off Achilles tendon surgery.

Alou decided not to entertain offers to return to the Giants, in part because the team did not renew the contract of his father, manager Felipe Alou.
Eight million a year for two years for a 40 year old is just too exspensive for me, yes he is still hitting well, but he is injury proned and getting up in age, American League would have been an ideal place for him cause they could of DHed him, but Mets and Alou aren't the best fit in my mind...

Seeing how Cliff Floyds contract does expire and the mets see no interest in him what so ever I see this being a huge pick up. Ya I noticed what the contract years and how much he would be making but I bet Floyd would be asking much money and probally more years which leads into some serious trouble with his knees. Both are injury bound but I see Alou being more healthier and better chance in surviving a year with the Mets. I hope they sign him and welcome him with open arms.
