Randy Moss wants traded?

Quote:
Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss is "tired" of the frustration he feels playing for a team that has won only six of 25 games since he joined the team before last season and is interested in being traded, he said on his weekly radio spot Friday.

Moss is in his second season with the Raiders and hasn't managed to recapture the magic he showed for most of his seven seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

"It's done sort of set in, man, and I'm tired of it," Moss said on Fox Sports radio. "I might want to look forward to moving somewhere else next year to have another start and really feel good about going out here and playing football."

Moss dropped this latest bombshell three hours or so before the Raiders boarded a plane for Kansas City in anticipation of their game against the Chiefs on Sunday, and four days after he attributed his dropping so many passes this season to his being unhappy.

Raiders coach Art Shell spoke with the media less than an hour before Moss' latest outburst. He was asked if he had spoken with Moss about the comments Moss made Monday afternoon.

"I said what I had to say in the paper," Shell said. "I'm sure he reads the paper. I don't have to say things. Again, guys make statements. I'm not sure they realize what they're saying at the time, or how it looks. I think by the end of the day, they're a little remorseful about it."

Moss, 29, leads the Raiders in receptions, receiving yardage and touchdowns. However, he is on pace for fewer than 1,000 yards -- in a season in which he plays all 16 games -- for the first time in his nine-year career.

Moss said Monday that "I might not be able to do the things I used to do back in the day." That doesn't mean he doesn't care. He said he cares "110 percent."

"I would invite somebody to come in and put the 18 jersey on, see what we go through on a weekly basis and then expect to go out there and perform at our highest level," Moss said Friday. "I guess that's what people see on game day, but they don't see what's behind closed doors through the week."

His drop in production can be traced to groin, rib and back injuries he sustained against the San Diego Chargers in the Raiders' fifth game last season.

He had 19 receptions for 466 yards and two touchdowns in Oakland's first four games last season. He finished with 60 catches for 1,005 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games. His average yardage dropped from 24.5 per catch to 13.1 after his injury. He is at 13.8 on his 33 receptions this season.

Moss put part of the blame on quarterbacks Aaron Brooks and Andrew Walter, saying they aren't always in sync in terms of things such as timing and where he wants the ball delivered.

"A lot of it has to do with ... the timing of me and the quarterback," Moss said.

The rest, he said, stems from an offensive philosophy by coordinator Tom Walsh that lacks an effective rushing attack and the kind of short passes that make it possible for Moss and other receivers to be effective on intermediate and deep passing routes.

Moss still has two years left on his contract. He joined the Raiders in a trade that cost the Raiders the rights to the No. 7 pick and a seventh-round selection in the 2005 NFL draft, as well as middle linebacker Napoleon Harris.

The Raiders would have to trade Moss after the season or release him at any time for him to play elsewhere. Releasing Moss wouldn't require a significant salary-cap hit.

Shell and Raiders players could not be reached for comment because they were en route to Kansas City. Shell said Friday morning that he doesn't have a problem with his players speaking out, as long as they don't cross the line.

"You go too far, and I have to respond," Shell said.

Notes: Starting left offensive tackle Robert Gallery (groin) and starting center Jake Grove (elbow) "looked good" Friday, Shell said, and are expected to play Sunday. ... Shell said he still hasn't decided whether to start Brooks or Walter on Sunday. He said he wants to view more videotape before making his decision. Brooks and Walter split time with the first-team offense in practice this week. Brooks started Oakland's first two games. Walter started the past seven, while Brooks recovered from a pectoral strain he sustained Sept. 17. ... Chiefs coach Herman Edwards is impressed with the play of Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp. "Their defense is really playing well, especially old 99," Edwards said in a conference call with Bay Area media Wednesday. "(Sapp's) a guy I am very familiar with. He was down in Tampa with us. It is good to see him playing good. He looks like he is having fun again and he is playing well." Edwards coached the defensive backs for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1996-2000, when Sapp was carving out a name for himself as one of the game's premier defensive players.
I see Moss's frusterations, but I don't know if it was right to bring it up now, it be different at the end of the season or before the deadline, but now mid season after the deadline, it just brings a rush of controversy sort of speak, and with all the controversy already in Oakland all they needed was a bit more, No I don't see Moss in a raider's uniform next year, but he could have brought this out at the end of the season rather than now...

Thoughts?

I see why hes upset but not many teams will want him due to his low moral and not being a leader and all. Hes a great player and hes in a slump now, Everytime hes in a slup he can ask to be trade or he would be on over 10 teams. He needs to stick it out and bring his moral up.

Moss is one of the Best Recivers I ever seen. I have to agree, I think Moss should be on one of the best teams on the NFL.

Moss is starting to replace T.O. as the NFL Complainer. I see no need into complain and make a huge deal in wanting a trade when his team isn't bad. Ya we all know the Raiders aren't awsome but we all know players learn to suck it up and deal with they have. Moss needs to learn he will never be put onto a winning team or even win a superbowl becuase of his mouth and how much he likes to be a ball hag. He will be thrown onto a another team and everyone will say superbowl team right there and then they will not win and we see all this happen over again. It's starting to get real pathetic but we all know it won't end any day soon which sucks.

the only thing about Moss and T.O. is that T.O. can back up his talk much better than Moss and is a much better reciever IMO, Moss is good, but his glory days went away when he asked to leave Minnesota and go to Oakland...

Styles I do agree with 100% on how T.O. does run his mouth but backs it up completly on the football feild on sundays and yes Moss usually never opens his mouth much sense he knows he will soon be bashed in some way but tends to open it once a great moon. The whole reason Moss does not back it up on the feild anymore is becuase Aroon Brooks has no time to throw Moss or anyone the ball, sadly I do not blame Moss for him not getting action. But it's also his fault becuase he opens his mouth and rather good teams notice and don't want anything to do with him and mostly the good teams who dont have the awsome QB's which hurts him even more. He is seriously a mess and in a bind that will be nearly impossible to get off.

My word, Randy Moss requesting to be traded again!? Well thats what you get with this "head case." Someone who is so undeserving to be in the position he is and receive all the reognition he gets, really doesn't deserve the big time contract that he is bound to get offered. Sure you can relate his depature to the gawd awful play of the Raiders, however this argument is so one sided. The simple fact is that the Raiders defense is one of the tops in the league ranking in at seventh with only 292.2 yards given up per game and only an average of 229.7 yards coming from the offense. Even though the demise of this franchise's once brillant offense can be related to the arrogance and insufficent paly of Moss, there are many others as to which it can be contributed.

To begin with, Andrew Walter. By far the worst Quarterback in the league with a passer rating less than 50% as well as the magnitude of an asshole for his down right crued comments toward the Raider's management, team, and coaches. Secondly, we have Jerry Porter. I mean I really like this guy and after seeing him alongside Tim Brown and Jerry Rice, I thought he had a great future. But, his ego eventually got the better of him and soon enough he was riding the bench. Just another guy wanting to get traded, but in all fairness he will have a solid future. And last but not least, the Raiders offensive line. Surely they have been terrible giving up 40 sacks on Andrew Walter alone, but the difficulty here can be contributed to repetitive injuries to Gallery, Simms, and Grove. So as you can tell, Randy does have his rights as the offense of the Raiders hasn't really lived up to standards other than the sub-par play of one Lamont Jordan who despite being overweight, out of shape, having no pass support, no offensive line, and being injuried, yet he still averages over 3 yards per carry.

Now back to the arrogant prick known as Randy Moss. As you can tell, I do believe he isn't the only man who is leading to these troubles, despite all those dropped passes in Seattle, ouch. Now I know you all have been comparing him to Terrell Owens, someone who may I say receives far too much publicity and is half the issue of what Randy is, so with that I'd have to give Owens the title as "better overall." Now Randy was an outstanding player in Minnesota and by far the most athletic receiver to ever play the game, but once his attitude began to effect his play, it all went downhill. So with that, I'd say Randy is no longer worthy of Hall of Fame status, but I wish I could say the same for the hefty contract he will receive from whomever takes the next chance.
