Twins pitcher Johan Santana has won the Cy Young which is his second he led the American League in wins(19) ERA(2.77) and Strikeouts(245). He joins Brandon Webb as the NL's Cy Young Winner.

Reported from New York that Alex Rodriguez is not interested in Free Agency or leaving the Yankees."My choice is to play for the New York Yankees. It's my choice. I love being a Yankee. I believe we're going to win with me being a Yankee," Rodriguez told reporters when asked if he was interested in voiding the final three years of his $252 million deal to test the free agent market.

In other news a swapping of addresses for LHP Neal Cotts as he was traded from the Chicago White Sox to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for RHP David Aardsma and Minor Leaguer Carlos Vasquez. This is the first deal between the intracity rivals since the Sox sent Matt Karachner to the Cubs for P Jon Garland.

Also as Buster Olney reports Manny Ramirez might finally be out of Boston this off-season. As a lot of contracts are up and people are resigning. He might be part of a sign-and-trade deal in the upcoming weeks

Frank Thomas is close to completing a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays worth $23 million and for 2 years. The Blue Jays will be Thomas's third team in three years.

The Tigers have resigned 1B Sean Casey to a one-year deal. Sean was brought over in a trade this past season to solidify the 1B/DH position.

Joe Girardi becomes the first Manager of the Year to be fired after winning the award. Jim Leyland was named the AL manager of the year also.

A-Rod might want to stay in New York, but if he has another season like he did, say goodbye because NYY might not want him and attempt to trade him...Sean Casey actually not surprised they resigned him, terms were disclosed so it will be interesting to see what they think he's worth...expect Joe Girardi as a manager somewhere after the upcoming season, he wants the Cubs or the Yanks, and I could see him getting the Yanks if the Yankees don't make the World Series again, Steinbriener is getting upset with Torre and I see this as his last year in pinstripes...Manny leaving Boston, I don't know he likes it somedays, somedays he hates it, he won't be ina Yankee uniform I can guareentee that so don't expect it, I don't see him getting traded but if he does, I see him either going to the Mets, Rangers, or Cards, Though I pretty sure the Red Soxs would rather have him in the National League if they don't keep him...

I'm not sure if the word to describe this offseason is disturbing or disgusting. It might be both. 30 mil for an injury prone 20 year vetran DH? Olney's blog today said that Manny's 40 mill 2 year contract is actually a BARGAIN this winter. There's a rumor that JASON FUCKING MARQUIS will be making in the 6-7 mill range.(And it's supposedly the Cubs who are going to give it to him, chuckle). I hope the Cardinals just stay out of it all, fuck it, one WS is a enough for a few years. Save the money.

It is amazing how these players are making much more then they deserve just because there are only a selected number for that postion and 8 or 9 teams need them for that...this has to be the worst by far free agent list in the leagues...only a few good names, who won't get double digets like Zito, only one that deserves some Money is Alfonso Soriano, but 7-year 117 million that he won't is just a bit too much IMO, though the Phils are talking about giving it to him...
