They hired a good D coach... The overall team is set up by the head coach so if he is good on D and weak with the Offense, then that will be reflected in his team... I mean come on... the guy couldn't win a Super Bowl with Elway, when their team was clearly good enough to do so if they had better leadership. He is good focusing on his defense alone as a coordinator, but when he has to dip his hands into all areas he gets too distracted. He will key on the Defense like always and you'll see the defense become tighter, but the offense will lose any steam they might have had. Especially without a coach holding TO's hand...

On that note as well, don't expect Romo to have an amazing good year. Once teams scouted him he was nothing more than mediocre in his numbers. He got off good enough to keep his overall number a float, but if you key in on some of his last games, you'll see what I mean. Teams have seen enough of him to have him scouted and know what to expect. SO defenses now will be ready for him like they were at the end of the season and into the playoffs this year.

Re: Wade Phillips New Cowboy Coach

idk about all of that. But i Guess we will see.

I think wade will do fine, the d will be awesome, and i jsut cant see how you can worry about the offense when you have witten, owens, and glenn all on the same team =/.

Romo will be fine. Did you see him at the pro bowl. I thought he did good and he also won the QB Challenge

Personally, I thought he looked totally lost at the Pro Bowl (not that I put any real stock into the Pro Bowl).

Re: Wade Phillips New Cowboy Coach

he sucked in the third but he brought the nfc back to tie it up in the 4th. did you see that 35, 40 yard bomb to boldin?

He threw for 156 yards. That isnt bad.

But yeah its only a pro bowl. It means NOTHING.

We just have to wait for next year to see.

Re: Wade Phillips New Cowboy Coach

Glenn is ok, Umm TO is not considered one fo the Elite in my mind either... but without having the coaching needed none of that will really matter... Look at the Raiders. They had Moss and Porter and was that enough???

The problem that you aren't seeing is that you have to sacrafice the quality of something you have to strenghten another area... especiall going from a balanced - offensive head coach to a defensive one. Look at the Chiefs and Herm Edwards.... their offense sputtered this year while their defense got a little beet better. over the next couple of years that team will be a defensive minded team... If Wade lasts in Dallas you can expect to see the same. But of course your a Cowboy fan and logic is beyond you when you get someone new...

Re: Wade Phillips New Cowboy Coach

I don't really see Turner and TO working well together... I think they partially went with Wade cause of his laid back personality....

Re: Wade Phillips New Cowboy Coach

i think they went with wade cause he is from texas and he understands what it means to texans to win in football. well, atleast that is what mr. jones said.

I think it was just a ''safe'' choice really. HE has been to the playoffs. The other coaches were too young really.

Yeah, I am a homer so dont pay too close of attention when it comes to the cowboys lol..

Haha, are you serious? That was a flutterball, underthrown, which Boldin made a great adjustment on.

I do agree with you that Phillips was probably the "safest" choice at this point in the offseason. Should be very interesting to see what the Chargers do.
