| Re: Live Superbowl XLI thread (plus pre and post game discussion) Well, that one to Berrian was just a poor throw. Berrian was open, and if Rex had led him a little, Berrian could have done some real damage with it. The other one simply never should have been thrown. It was a stop-and-go to Muhammad, but when Muhammad faked the hitch, the corner didnt bite at all, he just kept back-pedaling. At that point, Rex should have realized that the play wasnt there, and either look for another option or throw the ball out of bounds. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Live Superbowl XLI thread (plus pre and post game discussion) I'm not denying that the first pick was a shitty throw but I think it is really unfair to blame Chicago 's defeat on two poot throws from Grossman. Maybe if he had the ball a bit more and had some possession to find a grove then the story may have been different. The story of the Superbowl for me was how the Big Bad Bears defence got well and truly crushed. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Live Superbowl XLI thread (plus pre and post game discussion) Yeah, the Bears game plan was to simply avoid big passing plays. Phil Simms kept commenting on how deep the Bears safeties were, and you could see it. It's why Peyton threw that first INT. Then, the Colts wised up and said "Hey, if they're going to play us so deep, we'll just keep giving it to Addai and Rhodes, and to their credit, they realized this was the smart move and it worked. Sometimes a team is simply overmatched, and that's what happened on Sunday. The Bears are a decent team (although I still think Grossman sucks), but the Colts are simply better, and the better team won. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Live Superbowl XLI thread (plus pre and post game discussion) You're right. Both teams played the same Deep Cover 2 defense. The difference was that Peyton and co. happily took the underneath stuff all game long, while the Bears got greedy a few times. As soon as they fell behind, there was no way Rex Grossman was bringing his team back. I'm so happy for the Colts, and so happy I'll never have to hear some idiot Pats fan question the validity of Peyton Manning's Hall of Fame career. After Manning wins another couple Super Bowls, the Manning-Brady arguments are gonna get real fun. We can pay back the Pats fans for all those agonizing years of Brady-coddling. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Live Superbowl XLI thread (plus pre and post game discussion) And it only took Manning 9 years. For brady 3 in 4. we know who the better QB is. not to mention Post-season records and statistics NFL record for most consecutive wins in post season: 10 (broke record of Green Bay's Bart Starr). Most consecutive post season wins (college and professional combined): 12 12-2 record in the post-season | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Live Superbowl XLI thread (plus pre and post game discussion) It's really tough to debate who the better QB is, Manning or Brady. If Manning played on the Patriots, he probably would have won a few rings (more than the 1 he has now). However, I am of the belief that if Brady ever had a reciever core like Peyton does (Harrison, Wayne, et al), he probably would have been even more dominant in this era. | |||||||||||||||

| Re: Live Superbowl XLI thread (plus pre and post game discussion) There is no question who is the better QB IMO. Manning now he has a ring will go down as the best in his generation. Rambo those records you quoute are bogus when you put Mannings' records and acheivements next to his. How many times has Brady been the league MVP? How many passing records does Brady have? If Manning had to defence that Brady could and can rely on in Indy then he would be running out of fingers to put his rings on. However he didn't until now and now I wouldn't bet against him having a fist full of rings by the end of the decade. Yeah Brady has three, so what, you put another QB in Brady's place, the Patriots still win, you take Manning out from Indy I'm not so sure. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Live Superbowl XLI thread (plus pre and post game discussion) Brady is an excellent QB who had an EXCELLENT supporting cast around him for a few years. Those Patriot teams that went 14-2 and won back-to-back super bowls were some of the best teams EVER. Peyton Manning took a few years to grow into the amazing QB that he is, and he may have won more one or two more Super Bowls if he didn't run into the PAtriots back-to-back years. As mentioned above, those were incredible Patriot teams that no QB would have been able to defeat, even if it was Brady playing against his own team. I think Manning is the best QB in the NFL, followed closely by Tom Brady and Carson Palmer. By the way, Manning's playoff record since 2003 is a respectable 7-4 | |||||||||||||||
