ATLANTA - Michael Vick reluctantly surrendered a water bottle to security at Miami International Airport that contained a residue ``closely associated with marijuana,'' police said Wednesday.

The Atlanta Falcons' quarterback entered a concourse Wednesday morning at the airport with the 20-ounce bottle. He eventually handed it over and boarded his flight to Atlanta. But his initial reluctance to turn over the bottle aroused suspicion among airport security screeners, a police report said.

The bottle was found to have a hidden compartment that contained ``a small amount of dark particulate and a pungent aroma closely associated with marijuana,'' the report said. The compartment was hidden by the bottle's label so that it appeared to be a full bottle of water when held upright, police said.

No charges have been filed, but police said the bottle would be sent to a lab for analysis.

Vick did not immediately return a phone call early Thursday.

``We plan to look into the matter and discuss it with Michael Vick before having any further comment,'' Falcons spokesman Reggie Roberts said.

We already knew he was a lousy QB who's only saving grace is that he can run, and that he'd embarrassed himself to no end by giving the hometown fans the single-finger salute. Report: Vick didn't have marijuana in bottle

(Jan. 21, 2007) -- Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick wasn't carrying marijuana when stopped by security last week at Miami International Airport, ESPN reported Sunday.

Citing anonymous NFL sources, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Vick wasn't carrying marijuana or any other illegal substance. The ESPN report also cited an anonymous Falcons source, who said the team expects to hear something formal by Jan. 22.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello wouldn't comment on the report. He told The Associated Press the league had received no information on the issue.

On Jan. 17, Vick reluctantly surrendered a water bottle to security at the Miami airport. He was not arrested and was allowed to board an AirTran flight to Atlanta.

The bottle was found to have a compartment that contained "a small amount of dark particulate and a pungent aroma closely associated with marijuana," the police report said.

Miami police have said it could take weeks to decide whether to file charges.

I would like to think that if Vick can not produce this season that he would be on his way out of Atlanta. But since he is such a marketable player and draws a lot of fans to the games Arthur Blank may not want to send him on his way. Although, there have been a few rumors stating that Blank wants to win and wants to win soon. Maybe the new coach can come up with a skeem with or without Vick to het the Falcons back into the NFC south.
