Reds Make Mascherano Request

But Liverpool hope Mascherano will be allowed to complete a move to Anfield.

A Fifa spokesman told BBC Sport that the "player status department" was currently considering the matter.

Mascherano arrived at Upton Park with international team-mate Carlos Tevez on 31 August. But he has played only six minutes since the defeat at Tottenham on 22 October and is desperate to leave the club.

Under the world governing body's rules, a footballer cannot play competitively for more than two different clubs between 1 July and 30 June the following year. The rule, article 5.3 of Fifa's Regulations for the Status and Transfer of Players, was introduced in July 2005.
Well I never knew of this rule untill now!

I think he would be far better off at Liverpool, and if he were to go there, he could save his career in English football. I never understood why he and Tevez went to West Ham... it just wasn't their sort of club.

I've heard Mascarenho is quite the defensive midfielder, but not seen enough of him to judge.

Question is why, if he's that good, isn't a club that is in the bottom three ever using him. It's not like it's just one boss either that's decided they don't want him in the first team.

I'd be suspicious of signing this guy.

To be honest I cant see him being any happier at Liverpool. He was touted as a 15M player not long back with Utd really intrested in him but as Dave just pointed out if he cant catch at West Ham can you see him dislodging Gerrard, Alonso and Sissoko at Liverpool. I cant.

I had a sig, once.

I have seen him playing for Argentina and Corinthians, he is a very good player, I was really excited about him coming to the Premiership and then they ahve been letting his talent go to waste. There must be a logical explanation like he had an argument with the managers or owner or something because he is too good to not even be on the bench.

Maybe like others before him he can't handle the way English football is played? That's the only logical explanation I can think of.

To throw more light on this : there is suppossed to be some sort of clause where WHU have to pay the consortium that "owns" JM everytime he plays. That is thought to be why managers are not rushing to play him.

I had a sig, once.

^^^ Ahh rubbish KJaymeister. This is a club that is willing to pay over £60,000 per week to Lucas Frikkin Neill to come and play for them. They've got a billionaire backer behind them and are splashing figures like £10million to bring in Quashie, Davenport and BoaMorte!!!

Does that sound like a club that are going to not select a player for their team that may have been able to keep them out of the bottom three because they would have to pay a fee for him per game?

I can certainly see his agent or his "people" putting out that kind of story to make it seem like there is a logical reason why he's not been picked.....regretably though, their story lacks any logic!!

This isn't Crystal Palace we're talking about!!!
