Rangers Part Company With Le Guen

The Frenchman had stripped Barry Ferguson of the captaincy after claiming the player was undermining him in the dressing room.

Le Guen was in charge at Ibrox for just seven months - the shortest reign in the club's history.

Le Guen was hugely successful in French football with Lyon, helping them win three successive Ligue 1 titles.

However, he struggled to make the transition to the Scottish game.

"We are all clearly disappointed with our current circumstances and will now focus on securing a suitable replacement," added Murray.

"I would like to wish Paul and his management team well in the future."

Le Guen added: "I am disappointed to leave the club, but I think it is the best solution for all concerned. I would like to thank all the people who helped me and my team during my spell in Scotland. In particular I would like to thank the directors who at all times gave me their total support."

Reserve-team coach Ian Durrant will take charge of training on Friday before Sunday's Scottish Cup tie against Dunfermline.
Can't say I'm that suprised. The writing was on the wall as soon as he striped Barry Ferguson of the captancy. Le Guen wasn't the type of manager for a Scottish team anyway. I wonder who'll take over now?

He looked such an incredible choice at the beginning of the season. His success at Lyon had big clubs in Spain and Italy chasing him too. It's gone horribly wrong though.

Writing is on the wall when the dressing room is lost.

New manager? Ally McCoist? Graeme Souness? Gary McAllister? Steve Nicol is doing well in the US.

I'm guessing they'll go for a Scot next time

It's a sorry state of affairs when a dressing room is lost, a manager loses his job. I'm not all that clued up on Scottish football, but in my mind Barry Ferguson is avarage at best... I don't see what all the fuss is about.

If I were to place my pound on anybody (yes i'm a tight bastard) I'd probably stick it on Souness. He's out of work, and openly interested in getting back into football. The lure of the Rangers job again will be to big to turn down.

Well after listening to Radio 5 Live, it looks as if the following are going to be the new managerial team at Rangers:

Walter Smith
Ally McCoist
Stuart McCall
And other former Rangers players

This is what seems is now going to happen and it will be interesting to see how McCoist does as the manager of Rangers.

I haven't seen or heard of those reports. I don't think putting Ally McCoist in charge of a football team would work. He's the ultimate players best friend type of coach. No one would be able to take him serious. Plus what would ITV do if they lost him?

Walter Smith - well their just trying to hang on to what they had 10 years ago if they want him as the boss. Besides he's in charge of the national team. Managing a team like Rangers involves a lot of work it's a full time position. He wouldn't be able to juggle the national job with the Rangers job. He'd be ideal for an advisory role, but in my mind you can't have the national boss advising one specific club, it shows favouritism.

I like the idea behind appointing those two. Rangers needs to get back to it's roots if it wants to start challenging Celtic again. But McCoist & Smith is not the way forward in my eyes.

Walter Smith and McCoist are the new managers, they'll take over within days as will Ian Durrant. I think Smith will do this until the end of the season to allow Durrant to get his coaching badges then he and McCoist will take over. Allowing Smith to go back to the Scotland squad.

I really can't see the benefits of having McCoist and Smith in charge of the team. Walter Smith will never be able to recapture the success he had with the previous team he had at Ibrox.

This is just the Chairman’s way of boosting the fans and getting the old favourites back on board. It won't work. Barry Ferguson will now think he owns the place - since he'll be given the captaincy back (which is a bad thing if you ask me).

When he was dropped and striped of the captaincy, he should have taken it on the chin and gone out and proved he shouldn't have been dropped. Not thrown his rattle out of the pram. To me Murray has proved that Barry Ferguson is bigger than any other player at Rangers. So if he doesn't like you, your stuffed! It’s going to get a whole lot worse for Rangers before it gets better.
