UEFA to do something right

Uefa will act to to stop Chelsea spending millions on new players. (Mail on Sunday, Sunday Times)
Quote:
Chelsea have been targeted by Uefa as the governing body attempts to put an end to big spending which they say is ruining the game.
Uefa chief executive Lars-Christer Olsson insists that clubs like Chelsea have an unfair advantage over their rivals who have to spend within their budget instead of relying on a rich owner.
Olsson said: "I agree, it's very unfair for clubs who don't have a benefactor like Chelsea that they have to live within their means.
"If there is income coming into clubs in any case, our policy is that there has to be a transparent accounting system so you can see where it comes from."
Olsson has made clear his intentions by insisting that the proposals he has made will be taken to the European Union in a bid to legalise his plans.
"We are taking these proposals to the European Union to change the legislation," added Olsson.
"It would open the way to have better control. It would mean clubs would have to pay wages within their income."
the only fair thing to do will be for clubs to spend the club's own money on transfers, rather than a rich owner's billions, and to keep the rest the same, i think Wenger said something similar a couple of weeks ago, clubs sould only spend on players the amount of money that the clubs make/have

God, don't take offence but i edited your post so it doesn't link away from Monks.

As for this, i'm pleased with this as Chelsea have taken some of the fun out of football with their spending.

Football should have a transfer budget cap as it is unfair for a team coming up from the championship to the premiership to only have a small buget and then see teams like Chelsea splashing out on players they don't use often {Shawn Wright-Phillips prime example}

Its also unfair as there are teams in the lower leagues struggling to stay in bussiness and then have to see Chelsea splashing out on a player when that kind of money would be a massive bonus to a lower league club.

no problem man, if i remember ill do what you did in future.

on SWP the money chelsea payed for him could keep a lower league side in bussiness for 10+ years.
