First off, a "report" like this simply wouldn't come out of the Falcons organization in the middle of the season -- not when they're in the playoff hunt, not when just a few weeks ago everyone was saying Michael Vick had finally turned a corner. Second, I'm not from Atlanta, and I suppose there's a chance Vick could be wearing out his welcome, but I don't see how any team would move him. He's quite possibly the most marketable athlete in pro football, he's got the team on the hook for millions of dollars, he's only 26 -- quite frankly, he still has the skill set and youth to potentially become a great football player. I see the Falcons going through a few more coaches, if that's what it takes. Third, there's no way Vick ever plays a game at any other position. He clearly has no desire to, and if that was his only option left, he's got more than enough money to retire. No coach in the NFL would even think of trying to convert him to RB/WR. Lastly, who the hell is Matt Schaub? I don't mean that literally -- I know who he is, and he's played fine in limited action -- but why does it seem everyone thinks he's a top-flight quarterback? How is Matt f'n Schaub the final piece to the Ravens dynasty? I see the Falcons hanging on to both quarterbacks.

About the Ravens dynasty, did you see their Super Bowl team? They were complete that season with Trent Dilfer behind the Quarterback(yes I do know he had one hell of a defense that set him up and Jamal Lewis in the back field). Steve McNair has really helped the Ravens on the offensive side of the ball this year and, is the right man for that job but he is getting older and most likely will not be around much longer(I give him five years at most... two if he gets injured...). What I was saying is that Schaub can come into the game and continue to do the things McNair has been able to do and that is give the Ravens fourth Quarter victories(something Kyle Boiler and Alex Wright couldn't do..). Again I can't say I agree with you on that neither.

| It wasn't your grammar so much as you said Eric Schaub. I also saw the guys on PTI talking about Vick possibly leaving Atlanta (actually I think they both said Mora would get fired first), and I've read a lot of fans on the internet say they think Schaub should be given a shot. Now, I'm not really disagreeing with that -- I'm not a Vick apologist by any means, and Schaub has shown promise -- but I really highly doubt it's going to happen soon. Michael Vick is simply Michael Vick, and he's still a great thing for the Falcons franchise. Maybe not their actual football product, but the revenue they bring in because of his name, his playing style, his looks, his endorsements -- I just say there's no way they give up on him at 26. Now, you're right, I jumped the gun saying he's the most marketable football player -- it's obviously Peyton Manning -- but I'd still argue Vick for second, and I'm sure his jerseys still sell among the best. I mean, regardless of how well he throws the ball, he's an advertiser's wet dream. The reason I see the Falcons hanging onto Schaub is because of a.) how inconsistent/bad Vick has been, and b.) how injury-prone Vick's playing style makes him. Unless some team throws a 1st-rounder on the table, I don't see the Falcons trading Schaub, because they'd just have to develop a new quarterback in his place. And what put me off about the Ravens comment was that it seemed ludicrous to think Matt Schaub of all quarterbacks is what the Ravens' "dynasty" has been lacking all these years. First off, he's an unproven commodity, plain and simple -- a guy who was pretty good in college, has never wowed anyone with his passing mechanics, and who has been very solid in limited action. I'm sure there will be teams inquiring about him in the offseason, but not for more than a 2nd, which I wouldn't take if I were the Falcons anyway. (The other thing is that the Ravens won the SB six years ago now; it's getting too late for any run at a dynasty, those guys are getting too old). I didn't mean to come off as a dick in my last post, by the way. You're right, sorry, this is a friendly debate. | |||||||||||||||
