Arsène Wenger sees Tomas Rosicky as a direct replacement for Robert Pires.

The French midfielder announced his departure from Arsenal late last week. It came just days after the Club had unveiled Rosicky as their first acquisition of the summer.

In an exclusive interview with the Club’s official website, the Arsenal manager explained that although the two players are not identical, the Czech international will fit comfortably into the hole Pires has left in the squad.

“I took Rosicky to replace Robert,� explained Wenger. “I moved very quickly after Robert told me he would go. I wanted to secure [Rosicky] before the World Cup starts.

“He is a little bit similar position-wise to Robert. He can play in Dennis Bergkamp’s role, on the left, in a 4-3-3 or central. But he is slightly a different style.

“[Rosicky] is an accelerator of the game, a guy who can create things, see things quickly and whose best years are ahead of him.�

i seen rosicky play and he is very like pires but hes different also he has some more skill and powerfull shooter of the ball ..in other words hes awsome lol

Rosicky beats pires, hands down, he is a talented player, good carrier of the ball, great attacker, arsenal are looking very strong with a couple more players, I have them down for title contenders.
