They need a Yellow card system like Pride has.

Yeah they definitely need something like that. Sylvia was content with laying on the ground and doing nothing just so they would stand them back up. It was so boring.

I thought it was a good fight when they were on the ground, much more so when they were just standing there on their feet.

I think thats exactly what is it, The clinch is so effective and so under used in UFC. After Anderson completly destroyed Rich with it people are starting to understand how effective it can be. Just look at Franklins Nose post fight with Silva lol

As far as a Yellowcard system goes, I'd be all for it as long as it dosn't effect Matt Hamill

I'm sure they knew about the clinch long before it was done in the UFC. They didn't start out in the UFC. It is like the major leagues of MMA so to speak and they been in plenty of other fights and training before that and have been exposed to it before. I have also seen it used in UFC many times before.

They knew about it. But it was not really widely used. I think that when Anderson Silva used it everyone realised how it could really affect the fight. He completely dominated with it. I bet it will be used a lot more now.

I'm sorry but I just strongly disagree. Like I said, they are pro MMA fighters and have seen this plenty of time before. They are trained by the best MMA fighters in the world. You are implying they wouldn't have known how affective it would have been or can be til he did it. That is hog wash. I have seen it dozens of times and used very affectively in the UFC. That is like saying Loiseau was the inspiration for elbows. It is just something he does that he is very good at.

Everyone has something they are really good at doing. Just because you now see someone else doing it doesn't mean it was all do to him using them.

I disagree with that. I bet we will start seeing it a lot more in the UFC. Then we will all know that it was due to Anderson Silva. Because it has not really been widely used in the UFC really. It has been used from time to time but I think that it will be used a lot now.

We will just have to wait and see.

I have to agree with Dakstang on this, its not that the Clinch wasn't used before Silva toke out Franklin, but its more to the fact that now that people have seen it been used effectivly theyre going to start doing it themselves. Proof in that being since Silva used it On The TUF 4 finale I think it was Din Thomas or Rivera used a clinch in there fights Now Vera ownd Mir with one. I'm willing to put money on Someone using a Clinch at Fight NIght in Decemember also.

It's not that the clinch wasn't there before but its just becoming a better option cause it leaves people open for alot of stuff.

Well I disagree. I haven't seen it being used more than it ever has been. Like is said, that is like saying Loiseau is the reason elbows are used to finish fights. It was used well before him and will be used well after him. Just like the clinch. Anybody who knows anything about MMA knows it is one of hundreds of ways to be affective in a fight. Just because you may see someone else do it doesn't mean they haven't before or are doing it because Silva did it in that fight.

In no way is that proof that it was used because Silva did it. GSP finished Hughes with elbows, I guess that was because Loiseau uses them.

A fighter will use what ever is given to him at the time, and it also has to be an instinct for him to react to. That means he has to already be well trained in using them to react enough to know when it will be the best offence at the time. You don't learn that in a month.

Like I said, it has been used MANY times in the hundreds of UFC fights I have seen. Giving him credit for it being used in the future is pretty far fetched and impossible to prove.
