Terrell Owens attempts suicide.

Reports are he took 35 percs last night

Quote:
DALLAS - Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens tried to kill himself by overdosing on pain medication, police said, even putting two more pills into his mouth after a friend intervened.
A Dallas police report released Wednesday morning said Owens told his friend "that he was depressed." Details of the report were first released by WFAA-TV.
The friend, who is not identified in the report, "noticed that (his) prescription pain medication was empty and observed (Owens) putting two pills in his mouth," the police report said.
The friend attempted to pry them out with her fingers, then was told by Owens that before this incident he'd taken only five of the 40 pain pills in the bottle he'd emptied. Owens was asked by rescue workers "if he was attempting to harm himself, at which time (he) stated, `Yes.'"
Owens was hospitalized late Tuesday because of what his publicist said was an allergic reaction to pain medicine he was taking for a broken hand. Doctors reportedly tried to induce vomiting.
Owens is recovering from a broken right hand he hurt a week ago Sunday. He had an operation the next day to have a plate screwed in, enabling the bone to heal without being further injured. Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said last week that the pain medicine made Owens ill.
The Cowboys were off this past weekend and Owens was back at practice Tuesday, although he worked out on his own. Parcells said Owens' hand was improving and he was expected back on the practice field Wednesday. Owens chatted briefly with reporters in the locker room Tuesday afternoon and seemed fine.
Owens, one of the league's top receivers during his 11-year NFL career, is best known for wild stunts on the field and other publicity-seeking antics off it.
When the Cowboys signed him to a $25 million, three-year deal in March, they said their background checks indicated no red flags. In fact, team consultant Calvin Hill _ who mostly deals with troubled players _ said during training camp that his department was not involved with Owens because he didn't have a history of those kinds of problems.
Dallas police officials said they were planning a news conference later Wednesday, did not immediately release a time. A hospital spokeswoman said early Wednesday there was no patient registered as Terrell Owens, although federal privacy laws allow people to block their name from being released.
Owens' publicist and agent, and the Cowboys, did not return repeated calls from The Associated Press. No teammates or Cowboys officials were seen entering the hospital late Tuesday night.

I feel sorry for him...He takes too much undeserved criticism imo.

This could be the end of one of the greatest football players ever.

From nfl.com

NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders said he spoke with Owens shortly before his release from the hospital and that Owens was in good spirits.
"The fact that it has been reported a suicide attempt, he's laughed at that notion. It was a case that medication that was taken wasn't accepted well in his system with the other vitamins he's on," Sanders said.

He's a joke to the game. Not that this situation is a joke, it should be taken seriously. However, I DO believe he deserves all the criticsm he recieves just by the actions he takes on and off the field.

Dallascowboys.com
The police incident report stated Owens said "yes" when interviewing officers asked him if he was trying to "harm himself" and "yes" again when asked if he had "taken the remainder of the prescription."
But by Wednesday afternoon, Owens said he didn't even remember most of the evening's events, and definitely didn't remember answering questions for the responding officers.

"I wasn't as coherent as maybe they thought I was," Owens said.
Owens would go on to say, "The rumor of taking 35 pills is absurd. I wouldn't be here if I had taken 35 pills."
Owens has been taking pain medication for the past week, following his surgery on Sept. 18 to place a metal plate over his fractured fourth metacarpal on his right hand to help facilitate healing. In fact, Parcells said last Wednesday Owens had a bad reaction to pain medication and was sent home while the team had its first workout during the bye week. Owens returned to The Ranch on Thursday and actually did some running with the team on Friday.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Here are a couple of tidbits of information that I thought might be interesting:

The WFAA reporter who got a hold of the police report got it before the police lieutenant did. Kinda fishy, no?

And also, the Dallas police department has had a history of corruption. The new police chief recently fired close to 20 officers for inappropriate activities. So take that for what it's worth.

T.O really needs a new publicist. She sounded like a really smug, classless........ whatever. A man of his statue? hahahaha.

The media is always all over T.O. If he farts too loud we will all hear about it and something must be wrong. This was just tooken way to far.

Yes T.O has messed up in the past, but let the man live. Lets see if he has changed at all.

I just hope that if it was a sucide attempt, that he gets the help he needs. Those that are close to him really need to watch him now. It is better to be precautious about these things because if it was an unsuccessful suicide attempt, it may be successful next time.

I'm a good old rebel,
Now thats just what I am,
And for this Yankee nation,
I do not give a damn.
I'm glad we fought against her,
I only wish we'd won.
I ain't asking any pardon for anything we've done.

Yeah, and that would really suck for his son. He seems like a good father.
