Apparently, the story behind it goes as ... in a game last week, marlins in defense, there was a 3-2 count. The Marlins pitcher threw a pitch right down the middle in the strike zone, yet the Ump called it ball 4. Loria started shouting at the umpire until Girardi made him stop. Loria was pissed that he showed him up, and canned Girardi. During a meeting with the fellow people in the front office about the firing of Girardi, they were able to convince Loria that it was a bad idea, and made him re-hire Girardi.
