2006 NHL Entry Draft today!

Round 1 will be aired on TSN again. I'm pretty pumped because Chicago has the #3 pick and I really hope they can get lucky and pick Jordan Staal. The Blues will pick Eric Johnson at #1, but the #2 pick Penguins may take Staal before the Hawks can. Stall is Eric's brother, who just won the cup with Carolina.

Pittsburgh has had the 1st or 2nd pick in the draft for the last three years now. They got Fleury in 2003, Crosby is 2005, and now the #2 overall pick this year. The ironic thing is they continue to suck, regardless of how many good players they pick up.

Go figure.

It takes time for players to develop. However, like I have said many times Fleury will never live up to a number one pick.

But Malik, Crosby and Staal will lead to great things in the teams future.

---------------

Pretty good pick for the Flames as a 26th overall pick. But obviously the big news for us is Tanguay :cool2:

Obviously there's a chance you're right about Fleury, but there's no way I'm writing him off when he's still so young. I mean he was drafted, what, four years ago? Most big goalie prospects don't (and shouldn't) even SEE the NHL until they're the age he is now, or older. Guys like Justin Pogge in the Leafs system, or Cory Schneider in the Canucks system are good current examples; Ryan Miller is a good example of a guy who was developed properly and is in the NHL right now.

And Bouch, you gotta give the Pens some time to develop. Rookies almost never come in and play right away, let alone excel (Crosby and Ovechkin both hugely unique). The Pens could be a powerhouse in a few years.

I can't believe I've taken so long to say:

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

... regarding Roberto Luongo. That's the best trade I've ever seen made by one of my favourite teams. I'm still in shock.

Going to be some great goaltender matches between Calgary and the Canucks with Kiprusoff and Luongo in net.

And I know it takes time for goalies to develop in the NHL but Fleury has just never really amazed me. I mean you look at the Flames 26th overall pick yesterday with Leland Irving and look at his stats from the WHL and they are better than Fleury has had in the AHL, QMJHL and QAAA. Obviously not deserving of a number one pick IMO.
