If they haven't ever let anyone wear anything but those numbers in the past I don't think they should change the rule just for them.

It says in the rules based on your position what number you can wear on your jersey. I don't think they should make an exception for him, I don't think they will do it either since their is no reason for him to wear #5.

I don't see why not since wide receivers can wear basically a single digit number or one that starts with a 1 because the 80's are all taken or are retired.

Actually, WRs were only recently allowed to wear numbers between 10 and 19... maybe 11 and 19, I'm not entirely sure. But they're not allowed to wear single-digits.
I understand that it makes no sense to break the rule for Bush, but it makes even less sense to impose number regulations in the first place.
I like how colleges can have basically anyone wear any number. I like Michigan football and they basically only give #1 out to guys that will be great wide receivers and they have to earn it.
Braylon Edwards wanted #1 before his sophomore season but Lloyd Carr said he didn't earn it but he got #1 before his junior season.

A lot of athletes are superstitious about what number they wear so in my opinion that is a reason to let them wear what they want. There is no reason not to let him.

My feelings exactly. It's a stupid rule, but a rule nonetheless

Yeah it is by far the worst rule in professional sports, athletes should be allowed to wear whichever number they want, unless someone on there team is already using it or it is retired.
