Texas Hold'em.

Has anyone realized how big poker has got in the past year?
People are playing it everywhere I go, and now I think I'm addicted!
What do you guys think of it, do you play online or at school, just for fun, or take it serious? Do you watch it on TV, or do you not even care about it?

Remember the Spyda, dude ..

I don't mind playing poker in person, but i've never really understood the appeal of watching it on TV.

I'm not that serious about it though, and I wouldn't be willing to risk my money playing it online and when I play in person it's either just for fun or very small amounts(like nickels and dimes).
Visit and shop for video games at my Amazon-based store, also get discounted HD DVDs while they last.

It's just another fad like Magic, but more mainstream. I don't know how to play poker and I don't care to. I'm still wondering why they have poker tournaments on ESPN. I mean, come on. Poker is NOT a sport.
When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fullfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
...At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

Neither is cheerleading and they have that on ESPN(or ESPN2). It's just like how MTV has aired less and less music related stuff. I agree that poker should not be considered a sport though.

lol At least cheerleading is somewhat physical. The most poker players do is move their hands a little bit to place bets. Wow, what exertion! ;)

I would say poker has been going strong for probably the past 3 years. Casinos must be loving this only because they suck more college kids that think they can play but can't and lose all of their money.

I love the way poker has devolped in the last 3 years and ESPN's WSOP has contributed to that so it's a good thing. It's great seeing the meld between online math geeks and grizzled veterans. The game has become more and more about personality and discipline. Plus it's brought out loads of players who think they're the shit coz they watched a couple of editted hours of Phil Ivy and think that pros play 75% of hands. It's like an instant supply of suckas.
I had a sig, once.

I'm so sick of seeing poker on TV. If it's not on ESPN it's on ESPN2 or FSN or NBC or the Travel Channel. Enough already. It's boring and the guys get more and more annoying each year just to keep their faces on TV for more exposure which leads to more endorsements for the player.

I'd much rather see ESPN televise lacrosse, college baseball and college hockey than this crap.

Poker is fun to play and boring to watch, bottom line.

I agree

I liked watching it when i was learning to play, but now I dont care to watch it at all

Also, I'd rather watch somebody like Phil Ivey, who quietly beats everybody, than one of those loud-mouths who act obnoxious just to get publicity
