Casino's only make money when they have tournaments. Liquor is about all the poker player's will pay for. If anything the casino's are losing money. People that know how to play cash games are the ones taking in all the money. I was playing friends, with who watch WSOP all the time, in a $.50/$.25 large blind/small blind game. I sat down with $4 walked away with $30 in like a hour. Take $100 with you to any casino, sit down at a cheap table and only play with only great hands.... you can double what you brought EASY.

The way that casinos make their money from the poker rooms is that they take about 5% or 10% from every pot.

When I play in AC (at a 2/4 table), every time the pot hits a multiple of $10, they put one $1 chip aside for the casions rake.

Poker rooms are what we in the finance world call a narrow-margin operation. Basically, the difference between the revenue it generates and the cost of operating it is very small. However, casinos have poker rooms in the hopes that it will bring more people into the casino, who will then spend their money at the blackjack/roulette/craps tables, which have wider margins

the casinos make about 40 an hour on each card table, and that is on low low limit table.
