I don't think now is the time for Culpepper to be asking for a trade or to be released if no trade is done. He had his worst year as a pro before destroying his knee against the Bengals. The injury is so bad that he's going to miss the first month of next season and when he does come back, he's likely going to be less mobile than he was before the injury.

He should just stay in Minnesota for a year, try and get healthy, then comeback and have a good rest of 2006-07 and then if he's still unhappy, ask for a trade.

Although this is probably good news for the Vikings b/c they can get try and get rid of him at a discounted rate.

Man, I don't care what anyone says, as a Packers fan I'd be THRILLED to see Culpepper leave the division.

With or without Moss, this guy is barely a year removed from one of the top-5 greatest seasons a QB ever had, at least statistically. He's still young and still needs to learn the game, but you're kidding if you don't think a team won't be interested in his size and athleticism. Injury or not, that's just ridiculous.

I also agree with Freak in this thread. Culpepper had a shitty year last year, but he's been great in the past, and Randy Moss doesn't make THAT much a difference (he didn't do much in Oakland this year).

Oh, and in Culpepper's career year, Moss missed a few games, and was so hobbled he was essentially useless in a few others. So you can't say it was all Moss.

Oh, and I remember looking it up somewhere, and the teams that beat the Vikings with Culpepper at the helm were some of the best teams in the NFL, and during that 6-game winning streak mentioned in the article, Brad Johnson only beat one team with a winning record (The Giants), and in that game the offense only scored 3 points. So, it wasn't a case of Brad Johnson being a superior to Culpepper, the schedule had a lot to do with it.

With Culpepper, their 5 losses came against Tampa Bay, Cincinnati, Chicago, Carolina (those 4 teams all made the playoffs), and 8-8 Atlanta.

Brad Johnson beat the Lions, Giants, Packers, Browns, Lions, Rams, then lost two in a row, then beat the Bears in a meaningless game in Week 17.

This report is circulating that the Vikings have found a trading partner, and that they'll pull the trigger as soon as Free Agency starts. They won't say where he's going, but right now Miami is considered the most likely.

Did you hear the rumor about Culpepper and Owens both landing in Miami? I don't think it'll happen but that'd be a really good offense if it did. I still believe in Culpepper, I can't just ignore what he's done over his career. Moss didn't make Culpepper, guys like Nate Burleson and Kelly Campbell were made to look like good receivers because of Daunte..

But you could also argue they looked good because of Randy...

I hadn't actually heard Miami was going after Owens. The biggest suitor I'd heard of was Denver.

haha.. yeah I suppose. I just believe in Culpepper. Some throws his made over the years leads me to believe it wasn't all Randy. He's made some really incredible plays.

I've heard Denver and Dallas are both very interested in Owens, Miami was more of a dream then reality most likely.

An update on T.O.: I live in Denver and the latest reports from both big papers here is that the Broncos aren't interested in signing Owens anymore. They're going to shore up their D-line and look to add another receiver via free agency, but someone that will come with a cheaper price tag than Owens.

As for Culpepper, I think he'd be a good fit in Miami. Again, I'd be cautious in trading for him right now b/c you don't know how he's going to recover from that knee injury. He tore all the ligaments in the knee and it's definitely going to limit him from scrambling. I think he's a good QB but I do believe that Moss made him look better.
