Some notables hitting the NFL FA market...

Today was the last day for teams to place franchise and transition tags on players, otherwise leaving them unrestricted free agents. A few big-ish names even got released.

Of course, the big news is that Edgerrin James is to be a free man, while Steve Hutchinson, DeShaun Foster, Jeff Backus, John Abraham, Nate Clements, and Brian Williams all got tagged. Hitting the free market:

Shaun Alexander
Edgerrin James
Terrell Owens
Adam Vinatieri
Julian Peterson
Jamal Lewis
Ty Law
Charles Woodson
Drew Brees

That's definitely the most exciting FA crop I can think of in years. Two notable releases today were CB Ahmed Plummer, and 2002 4th-overall pick, OL Mike Williams.

TO isnt a free agent, he is going to be traded though, so year he is on the market so to speak.

Jamal Lewis said he wants to play for one of four teams. Denver, New England, Pittsburgh and someone else I cant remember

How could he play with NE unless he wants to share time..

That is a big crop of free agents. I was never a Plummer fan, I'm not too worried to see him go, but Julian Peterson.. Fucking A. The Niners need D is the worst way and he was the anchor.

Is Peterson a middle linebacker? If he's an outside guy, I would LOVE for the Giants to make a run at him. Their number 1 priority though is CBs, so I guess either Law or Woodson could help, although Woodson is a bit of a coach-killer, from what I've heard

Jamal Lewis also said he wanted to play for Arizona I believe. Why? I have no clue. I think he would be a good fit in Pittsburgh but they only way he would start is if he went to Arizona.

Yes, Peterson is an outside linebacker and he should be looking for huge money..unless people are worried about last year's injury.

I don't know what to think of Woodson. He's been hurt quite a bit lately and I always thought he was a tad overrated. Law had a great season last year, I'd take him.

I would like to see Lewis come to NE. I Think if him and Dillon shared time they would be fucking unstoppable. IT would be an insane RB combination to have them both on the same team. Vinatieri I think will sign with NE. But who knows he may just be a greedy bastard and go to antoher team for more money but who knows. Also I hope Edgerrin James stays in Indy so my jersey won't be outdated and i can still wear it.

True. Thats what I may have to do. With my luck within the next year every one of my jerseys I got the person will be traded. But luckily so far no one has been traded yet that I got a jersey of. Only thing is 1 retired but that doesn't matter.

Green Bay was actually the "other" team Lewis mentioned he'd like to play for.

As a Packers fan, no thanks. I'd rather take my chances giving Green an incentive-laden contract, give Gado a real shot, and if necessary, draft a running back on the first day.

I'd love to see Ty Law come to Green Bay, but not for the coin he's gonna want.
