Yeah that's basically what I thought. So many football players get called busts, because the NFL Draft is such an event and so many people follow it religiously. The NBA and NHL drafts are similar, but on a much smaller scale.

I remember thinking DT Andre Wadsworth was gonna be a fucking beast for Arizona a bunch of years back, but he never did anything in the NFL. A few years later, the same thing happened to Courtney Brown, though some folks still think he could get it together.

Joey Harrington sure looks like a bust.

I would say Chris Phillips has never lived up to his first pick in the 96 NHL draft. Actually Berard has never really lived up to being a first pick either. Ottawa have a pretty bad history of who they pick first overall.

Then Rick Nash is in danger of becoming a bust. His injuries this early in his career are not good. Ends up injured in the pre-season, returns and aggravates that injury, returns again and ends up with a different injury....... I mean his conditioning has to be pretty awful or something. And despite the fact that he tied for the Maurice Rocket Richard trophy he didn't have a good season since he only had 16 assists to go along with that. To be fair his supporting cast wasn't that amazing but it still ends up making his stats not that great.

Then looking back further Brian Lawton has to be one of the worst busts in NHL history. Best NHL season ended up being 44 points.

Radek Bonk is another guy who never turned into the player the Sens hoped for.

I really wouldn't consider Nash even verging on bust... I mean, not yet. Something really horrendous would have to happen for him to go there. He looked fantastic last season on Columbus, and if anything, looks like more of a superstar than a bust. The injuries are a concern, but I'd consider a "bust" more of a guy who just flat-out wasn't as good as people thought. And regarding his assists total... he's a scorer, and was playing on a line with... okay I don't even know who.

What about Jani Rita? Did he ever develop into anything? I remember folks saying he'd be a special one, but I haven't heard his name in a while. Or Saprykin?

Taylor Pyatt and Tim Connolly were both high picks who haven't done much, but both are having really solid seasons in the NHL, I believe.

Another one from the NFL was Curtis Enis, a running back who I believe the Bears drafted top 5. Like Ki-Jana, part of the Penn State curse which Larry Johnson is beginning to decimate.

I think Nash will work through the injuries and play great but with the injuries this season there is always the possibility he is going to end up injury prone like Lindros or Bure but without ever putting up some of the stats that they put up prior to the injuries. If he does stay healthy and Fedorov starts to play better he might be able to get more assists now. Vyborny also isn't that bad.
