Joe Thorton is Traded !!!!!!!!
According to a report on Canada's TSN, the Boston Bruins, in last place in the Northeast, have traded their captain to the San Jose Sharks for Wayne Primeau, Marco Sturm and Brad Stuart.

Thornton, the first overall pick in the 1997 draft, has nine goals and 24 assists this season in 33 games for Boston.

Primeau, a center, was the Sabres' first-round choice, 17th overall, in the 1994 draft. He has five goals and three assists in 21 games.

Sturm, the Sharks' first-round choice, 21st overall, in the 1996 draft, has six goals and 10 assists in 23 games.

Stuart, the Sharks' first-round choice, third overall, in the 1998 draft, has two goals and 10 assists in 23 games.

I was just about to post this.

What in the fuck is wrong with the Boston Bruins? Like they weren't shitty enough already, they trade their captain -- easily one of the NHL's elite players -- for Sturm, Stuart and Wayne Primeau?!?

Stuart is a solid defenseman with some potential, and Sturm has a decent scoring touch... but good god. That's Joe fucking Thornton.

The Bruins weren't winning with Joe Thornton. They only won 1 playoff series since 1997 and in some of those years, they were #1 in the East. I am a Bruins fan and they suck. I admit, its time for a change.

It is time for a change but not getting rid of your franchise player. You make changes with trading players not as crucial to your team for players you need. Or you try to claim somebody off waivers or free agency. Especially when there will be a couple of great players hitting the free agent market at the end of this season. But most importantly if the team isn't getting it done you don't get rid of one of the players on the team playing good. First thing you do is make coaching changes. Boston has got some decent players in exchange but they are a lot worse off now.

I say they get rid of Mike O'Connell before they get rid of the head coach. He is the one that put this team together with a very bad defense.
