MLB Hot Stove Talk - Thome to Chicago for Aaron Rowand.
This just in. Red Sox get Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell. Marlins get top prospect Hanley Ramirez and more. Details are not fully available on what the Sox gave up.
Damn, that is a good move. The Jays are talking about throwing something like 10 million a year at AJ Burnett, who I'd say has less value than Beckett.
If they did sign Burnett though, they'd have a rotation of Halladay/Burnett/Lilly/Chacin/Towers, which is pretty fucking good, especially compared to the AL East.
Lowell had a terrible year this year, and I know the Marlins were thinking about moving him all year. But, I think he could definitely be a quality hitter, especially with the Monster staring him in the face
and Burnett, when he stays healthy, is a phenomenal pitcher

He did dominate the 2003 postseason, so he's shown the ability to be a No. 1 guy.
We have to remember that Beckett's still only 26 and still developing. I think the Sox picked him up at the right point in his career and with a better team surrounding him, I think Beckett can win 17-22 games a year every year.
Yeah, but isn't he always hurt? I remember him lighting it up early this seaosn, and then getting hurt again and falling off
Oh, and I meant to say Beckett, not Burnett. Did AJ Burnett get signed?

Huge trade. It sucks to see the Marlins going down again, I guess the Braves will just have to win the East for one more year, but seriously, the Sox got some big help here.
