The BJ Ryan signing is HUUUUUUUGE with a capital HUUUUUU. Mainly for the fact that the Sox, Yankees and Orioles were all in the hunt for him.
I hate to say it but I really like the Jays. I am a big supporter of J.P. Richardi. He is on our local radio station quite a bit during the season and he REALLY seems like he knows what he is doing.
It would be nice to see them back off Burnett as I really dont think he is all that great, but he is still probably the guy to put them over the top.
What they SHOULD do is forgo the free agents and try to make a trade for an already legit starter. They have a great farm system.
I read one rumour that the Rangers are offering Kevin Mench for Miguel Batista. I know basically nothing about Mench, but Batista is one of those guys who has the tools, but I'd never want to rely on. Like Kelvim Escobar was.
Ricciardi does seem like an intelligent guy, and he seems pretty dedicated to the Jays organization too. People were mentioning his name as a possible replacement for Epstein, but I think J.P.'s gonna stick around and try to work this master plan of his.
Where the hell did they find all this money? One day they can't keep people like Delgado and Green and now they're signing all the big fish out there. I know it wasn't attendence that's helped things so what the hell? Is it the confidence in the GM?

The reason why is because 3 years ago they were 70 million in debt and now they have no debt. They are able to spend 15-20 more million a year and be up in the 70-80 million a year range to be competitive.

It's because Ted Rogers (owner of Rogers, an enormous Canadian communications company) bought the Skydome (renamed the Rogers Centre), and over the next three years, plans to basically double or triple the Jays payroll.
The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired first baseman Lyle Overbay from the Milwaukee Brewers for right-hander Dave Bush, outfield prospect Gabe Gross and minor league lefty Zach Jackson.
