Reggie Bush...

... won the Heisman trophy tonight. No one that watched his performance against Fresno State tonight could possibly disagree. This guy is something special.

Awesome job by Fresno State tonight. They put up a hell of a fight, even when they were down and it looked like USC was going to run away with it. Very impressive.

Ah shit. I didn't get a chance to watch last night, and since I live in Canada, we don't get to see NCAA highlights anywhere.

Either way, Heisman or not, there's no way Reggie Bush falls out of the top 3 in the draft now.

Best college performance I've ever seen. The guy reminds me of Barry Sanders. Watch out.

That was a great performance by Bush, although if I was voting I'd still go with Vince Young. I just think Young is more valuable to his team than Bush and he's had a great season not only running, but throwing (something people said was his weakness) this season.

I think if you take Bush off of USC they're still undefeated. They'd still have Leinart (who's playing better this year than last), LenDale White (1st round pick if he comes out), several good WR's and I'm sure Bush's backup is a speedster as well.

Take Young off of Texas and I don't think the young Longhorns go undefeated.

If you take Bush off of USC, they lose to Fresno State.

I certainly don't think he's locked up the Heisman, and it will definitely come down to him or Young, but that performance last weekend, basically willing his team to the national championship, is exactly the kind of thing that sways the minds of Heisman voters. All that yardage doesn't hurt either.

The Heisman trophy is not an MVP award. While it doesn't have specific criteria, it's generally just meant to go to the best college football player. Therefore, it's irrelevent how good either team would be wthout them.

Also, I highly doubt USC is undefeated if they don't have Bush. Like Freak said, they probably lose to Fresno State and they would have lost to Notre Dame. Without Bush, I think USC would be more like a 9-3/8-4 team. Lendale White is a generic "big" back and possibly the most overrated player in the country, and Leinart is great, but not good enough to carry the team on his shoulders week after week, especially with USC's mediocre defense.

Okay, well allow me to disagree with you here.

LenDale White will likely get the chance to prove himself as the main guy if he returns next year, and failing that, when he is a 1st-2nd rounder in the 2006 draft. He reminds me of LaMont Jordan, and to say he's at all "generic" I think is completely unjustified. He's big, yeah, but he's fierce, and he's shifty too. Don't look past all the huge games he's had this year himself.

As for Leinart... the guy is arguably the greatest college quarterback of all-time. If anyone's capable of carrying a team on their shoulders, it's him. You replace Leinart with some average QB, and Reggie Bush's numbers go way, way down.
