Dangit!!!! No more Theo !!!

Not that anyone but me gives a crap, but Theo Epstein resigned today. Theo was the first general manager for the Red Sox to take them to the playoffs 3 years in a row.

Damn.

Looks like the teams interested are Washington, Seattle, Philly and a couple others.

He kind of priced himself out of that job though, didn't he? If memory serves, he was asking for about twice what Cashman makes.

Maybe he wanted out?

They offered him plenty of money. It seems like Theo just wanted out of Boston, and possibly out of baseball, if only for a year or two.

I wouldn't care too much if I was a Red Sox fan. Unless your name is Billy Beane, I don't think you're terribly irreplacable as a GM.

True, especially if you have a payroll the size of Boston's or New Yorks. I just have a hard time appreciating the job an Epstein or Cashman can do when they have practically unlimited resources. Now you make a small market team a contender like Billy Beane or Mark Shapiro then we'll talk about great GMs.
