World Series 2005 Discussion. White Sox vs. Houston.

Its cool seeing these two teams in the championship.

Bagwell, Biggio going for the first time. They have been on the team together for 15 years.

Houston had never one a playoff round.

Chicago hasnt won a World Series since 1917.

I would love to see Houston win, but I won't be disappointed if the Sox win either.

This will be great since a World Series win would be huge for both teams, which is why many people wanted to see Cubs/Red Sox last year.

I wouldn't mind seeing either team win, but I will be rooting for the Astros, although for no particular reason.

Didn't they say during tonight's game that this will be the first time a WS game will be played in Texas?

Hmmm, come to think of it, that could be right. Nothing comes to mind.

That is weird.

GO WHITE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I haven't made any predictions yet in the playoffs for the Sox (too afraid to) so I won't start here. The Bagwell/Biggio thing is a really swell story, but I really don't give a crap either.

After the Sox won the pennant their chairman, Jerry Reinsdorf, said he was pulling for St. Louis to come back and win the NL pennant. His quote was something along the lines of "White Sox and Cardinals in the World Series...then who would Cub fans root for?"

LOL...gotta love it.

I never was a fan of Tony LaRussa. In spite of his success I've always considered him a whiny tool and was one of the few people glad to see him run out of here in the 80s. Phil Garner is a piece of crap. His Tigers team started a massive brawl with the Sox in 2000 that culminated with a couple of his players kicking at a down and curled up Keith Foulke. Class acts, them Garner-managed teams.

Garner has never been shy with his hatred of the White Sox, so don't be surprised if this one gets ugly early.

This might be the lowest scoring World Series in history...

Contreras-Buerhle-Garland-Garcia vs. Clemens-Pettitte-Oswalt-Backe

Don't expect any slugfests

I think the pitching matchups are really good, that's for sure.

This is gonna be great, the Sox in the Series finally. All those years watching the ALCS and seeing all those other teams celebrating year in and year out, and finally the Sox are the ones popping champagne.

I'm, like, giddy.

After playing like crap and letting the Indians almost catch them, the White Sox have finally started playing good ball again, and I think they will have momentum over the Red Sox, who more or less backed into the playoffs.

As for the Braves v. Astros, I've simply learned to always bet against the Braves in the playoffs, so why stop now?

I really need to start gambling. I've predicted every single playoff series correctly so far.

If you're into low-scoring, pitching dominated games, this is the series for you. I'm a fan of such games, so it'll be interesting to see whose staff outperforms the other.

I'm taking the Astros in 6 games. They seem to get the big hit when they need it and I think Clemens-Pettitte-Oswalt will be better than Contreras-Bueherle-Garland. Plus, Lidge has a few days to get over giving up the bomb to Puljos, so I think he'll be fine in the WS.
