That's crazy talk, mister!

I agree Houston gets the edge with the closer. Houston's overall 'pen is probably deeper since we have the 2 arsonists (my understanding is the Astros only have one in there), but I'm not going to underestimate the Houston lineup. Bags is old and broken down, but funny things happen when a guy is in the WS and he's old and broken down. (COUGHkirkgibsonCOUGH) lol

I just can't wait. The ALCS was tight and competitive for 3 of the 5 games, and I was loving every pitch. Going nuts too, but still...good playoff ball should leave you hanging on every pitch imo.

YES! Great game, well-played on both sides. I hope the whole series is like this (including the ultimate result lol). If you can't enjoy a WS game like that, you just don't like baseball. But whew, what a nailbiter. Nice to see the Sox bullpen make a cameo tonight.

PEPPER NEEDS NEW SHORTS!!

I found a cool little article talking about Cub fans and how they're coping with the Sox being in the Series. Fun read, I love this part of it...talking about a shop by Wrigley and their jersey sales this week:

"And when they're not hawking Sox stuff, or Cubs merchandise (20 percent off this week!), you know what team's gear is selling best? It's the Astros."

That's good stuff.

Anyway....YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!! 3 more to go!

I watched this last night but fell asleep in the 8th inning. (long day). Fucking Clemens messes up his hamstring. Damn.....

I am very impressed with the style of ball the Sox play. I love hit and runs. The Sox seem to be doing small ball constantly. I dont understand why more managers dont incorporate this style of play more.

Did you see Houston late in the game? It was like they were trying to hit the ball back to Houston with those chops. I hate that. Oh well.

Favorite line of the night by Tim McCarver

"Roger Clemens has never thrown a ball with more intent on breaking a bat. Thats why he threw the splitter there"

WHAT?!?!?! He has pitched for 20 years and this particular at-bat in the World Series he says to himself "I have to break his bat"

I hate nothing more than when Tim McCarver acts as if he can read peoples minds. He does this all the time.

As far as the game goes.........I dont really care who wins. I want both teams to win for different reasons. I will be happy no matter who wins.

DD's Favorite of All Times

I finally played live and it was fantastic.

Did you like Carl Everett dropping the bunt down? There isn't a single guy on the team that would refuse to do that if it were called...not Konerko, Dye bunts all the time, and obviously not Everett.

I get a kick out of Guillen calling for Jenks. Sometimes he holds his hands out in front of his belly when he calls for him lol. One time last year Guillen got his left and right mixed up and wound up with the wrong pitcher out of the bullpen, so the next day some of the guys put armbands on his jacket with the words LEFT and RIGHT in huge letters. So of course when he went out to make a pitching change with that jacket on, he made a big production of consulting both armbands before signaling the bullpen. Fun stuff.

Speaking of Jenks...how many pitches in that at-bat were 100mph? Damn.

Anyway.

I understood what McCarver meant with that comment, I think...and to be honest that scares the hell out of me. I believe he meant he was trying to jam the batter because he really needed out of that situation. McCarver is an idiot, but he's a harmless idiot imo...in other words, he means well and can't hurt anyone.

Game 2 tonight, Pettitte vs Buehrle. That's a great matchup there.

Most of you probably have no rooting interest in this series, but the first two games have been outstanding. THIS is why we love baseball.
