| $200 Million down the SH***R Well, how would you rate the Yankee season? I know they had to overcome some injuries but c'mon.. On Paper they have a hell of a lot more talent than the Angels. Johnson was awful in game 3, was ok tonight. Mussina was bad. And on a side note, Who thought the Angels were winning after they went down 2-0 and Ervin Santana had to come in for an injured Colon? Oh well, Somebody's getting fired. | |||||||||||||||

| I think everybody knew that if the Yankees didn't make the playoffs or got eliminated in the 1st round than Joe Torre was going to get fired, it's pathetic that the ballpen alone costs more than the enitre payroll of Tampa and yet they can't find a way to win it all. | ||||||||||||||

| You see.. I think Torre is safe. I'm just not sure about everyone else. Things in baseball are becoming repetitive. Braves bullpen can't nail down games and the more the Yanks spend the more they lose. | |||||||||||||||

| I'm just glad the Yankees and Red Sox are out of the playoffs. Always good to see some different teams in the mix. I'm sure MLB is pissed b/c ratings will be much lower than they were last year, but I don't care. George is going to go on another spending spree and buy up some more over-the-hill guys, pushing the Yankee payroll to 250 million. I don't know who will get fired, but I don't think Cashman is going to comeback (his contract is up). | ||||||||||||||

| The next person Steinbrenner should try and buy is Billy Beane. I'm with Djwlfpack. All I wanted was for someone other than the Yankees or Red Sox to win, so I'm happy with what ever else happens. Now I just hope it White Sox v. Astros because I think that's what I predicted. | ||||||||||||||

| I think the Yanks are really starting to look bad here.. If they were winning all these years fine, at least they could say they are winning, but this is the 5th straight year now they haven't won, their payroll goes up every year; it's becoming laughable. Sorry to all you Yankee fans out there, but you guys know the deal. You certainly do not need to spend $200 Million to win.. Look at the Angels. Are they a small market team? Hell no. But they stay right around $95 million a year and they could win or at least compete to win the series every year w/ the players they have. That's my problem with the Yanks. They make more mistakes than any team out there, so what will they do, spend $250M? $300M? When will it stop? | |||||||||||||||

| Maybe this off-season the Yankees will sign the umpires. Obviously buying all the best players in the league doesn't work, so maybe it's time to think outside the box. | ||||||||||||||

| Here's somebody who gets it: We don't play to just make it to the playoffs; we've been to the playoffs before," New York captain Derek Jeter said. "We play to win, and we fell short again." Here's somebody who doesn't get it: "I had a great year, something I'm very proud of," A-Rod said. "I left my guts on the field, I left my heart out there. I'm not going to hang my head. I'm going to learn from it and become a better Yankee." Who the hell cares if A-Rod had a great year? He didn't do it in the playoffs AGAIN. | |||||||||||||||

| Joe Torre will NOT get fired. He's basically bullet-proof. I also heard that Cashman was leaving whether or not George wants him back. He's had enough. As for A-Rod, I've spent most of the last two years defending him, but enough is enough already. 2 for 15, 0 HR, 0 RBIs, and one HUGE error in Game 2. One of my biggest complaints about sports "journalism" these days (And I put the word in quotation marks for a good reason) is that the word "choke" gets thrown around WAAAAAAAY too much. But A-Rod choked this series. Plain and simple. And Derek Jeter, of course, went 3-for-5 with a homerun and 2 RBIs... | |||||||||||||||
