But the Boston Red Sox, to put it in these terms, in no way reached a 100 score on every paper. It's impossible. Certainly The Red Sox didn't sell out some games this season.

Let's say it takes 100 people to fill the stadium. They did that four times. One game they had 98 people. 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 98 = 498 divided by 5 = NOT 100 as the average.

They would have to go over capacity to do that, which they can't....obviously.

They sold out EVERY game. 100% of their games were 100% sell-outs

Then why doesn't he just say they sold out every single game instead of putting the average garbage in there? It's goofy, you have to admit.

Thank you D. That's what I've been trying to say. The Red Sox sold every ticket this year.

It if is %100 of the time then why would you take an average of that? You take an average when the numbers are different. %100 is just that, %100. No average needed.

You guys talked about averages for 2 pages. How gay...

You are playing schematics.

Also, Ballparks such as Fenway park go OVER the seating capacity EVERY game. They are called SRO tickets.

Standing Room Only.

They sell about 3-4 thousand of these each game.

Therefore the team 'averages' a sold out crowd everynight.

You guys are playing with words rather than debating a topic.

Let me try to get back on topic for you guys..............

It all goes back to the post Mister D made.

If you have interest in a club, the money will follow.

I also find it funny that I live in one of the smallest major cities in the country yet we have a 100 million dollar payroll. Can someone answer that one? Please?

I dont think you guys up in God's country even realize how much the Yankees and Red Sox consume their cities respectively.

Wrong.

An average is simply an equation.

Example:
What is the average attendance for the Boston Red Sox?

Game 1 (35,000 people) Game 2 (35,000) Game 3 (35,000)

Now use the average equation:

35,000 + 35,000 + 35,000 = 105,000

105,000 / 3 games = 35,000

Yes the number is still the same, but its STILL an average.

Can we talk baseball now?

That is, essentially what I was going for. Unfortunately hockey in October is happening for the first time in two bloody years, so Simon I'm afraid I won't be able to reply to your reply of my reply for a little bit.

Simon and I will be watching the Bruins all night..

But seriously, I can't even get my Pens games, what the hell? NHL is beyond dead in the states now.

As far as the Jays go, we all know what happend. They weren't quite the powerhouse anymore and the fans bailed once times got rough.
