I love playing pick-up on the pond. I only ever learned how to skate on figure skates, which sometimes makes it hard if the ice isn't smooth, because the little picks get caught on everything. We went skating in gym class all the time on the frozen lake beside my school. We had huge 10 on 10 hockey games, it was great.

I agree with Miakal, ice skating dates are cute.

October 13th update:

So we got BLOWN OUT last night (11:45pm gametime), 10-3. In our defense, our goalie was sick and didn't play, so our 2nd-line centre had to play goal. One of our top defensemen was out too, and our 1st-line centre had to take his place. This on top of the fact that our opponents have been together for three or four years now... it was ugly.

We played like shit though, especially near the end.

Actually one of our guys laid a fairly cheap shot on their guy with about 50 seconds left, and the guy slid shoulder-first into the boards. Our guy got kicked out, and we're hoping he's not gonna be suspended or anything.

October 20th update:

Nearly back at full-strength, we beat up on the Singles team again, 9-5. We definitely had a few questionable calls go our way, but this was a team that had one good line and a bunch of shmucks. They had one 300-pound goon who tried to stick me in the balls, and got called for it.

Again, no points for Freak, but at least I was +3.
