I am always interested to hear what players people like in all sports. It can almost show some of the character of the person on who they like as athletes. Remember, I said "almost"

I would like to hear some of your favorite past players and current players from sports you happen to follow.

Keep in mind I want it to be people YOU watched and enjoyed. So Freak can't say freaking Joe Namath or something. Make it revelant to your time on earth watching sports.

Please feel free to include just your hometown guys if thats what you dig.




MLB:

Roger Clemens (Hands down my favorite athlete EVER)
Albert Pujols (Maybe the best ever someday)
Ricky Henderson (I liked him with the A's, hated him with the Yanks)
Don Mattingly (the only Yankee that can dine for free in Boston anytime, class act)
Mark McGwire & Jose Canseco (These guys were like gods to me as a kid, little did I know......:erm2: )


NHL:

Ray Bourque (My favorite hockey player ever)
Cam Neely (A very close second)
Steve Yzerman (Big Red Wings fan years back)
Wayne Gretzky (Simply the best player ever)
Mario Lemiux (used to be amazing, still pretty damn good. Beat cancer too)


NFL:

Curtis Martin (Man, he never should have left the Pats)
Drew Bledsoe (He used to be my binky. I have since dropped the habit)
John Elway (He redesigned the way the game is played with the 2 minute drill)
Dan Marino ( I just hated him so much I kinda liked him)
Bill Parcells (He is just so Jersey its not even funny. He just entertains me.)
LT (The Original LT. Best Linebacker ever. Game plans had to be redone because of him on a regular basis. Unstoppable. Again, who knew he was high as a kite.....:erm2: )


NBA:

I don't really watch baseball, but I love Todd Helton. Our Rockies are never in contention.

NHL:

My favorite sport next to football is hockey. I love my Avalanche. One of my favorite players is still Forsberg even though he left. I love Milan Hejduk and Joe Sakic.

NBA:

I don't watch it. Carmelo is cool I guess.

NFL:

I loved Elway, but I'm kind of young. I didn't see his prime or Davis'. Right now I love Champ Bailey.

The Phantom

Okay.. the vast majority of you won't have a clue who I’m on about but here's the guys I enjoy watching.

Football/Soccer:
Ronhaldino (Barcelona & Brazil) - Anyone who watches football/soccer will tell you this is the most talented player in the world. He can make something out of nothing. I saw him play for Barca last season and I tell you what, he alone was worth the entrance fee to watch. Just watch his goal against Chelsea in last years Champions League final.

David Beckham (Real Madrid & England) - Say what you like about Beckham, but he's a damn good footballer, and one I liked ever since the start.

Diego Forlan (Villarreal & Uruguay) - For some reason I love this guy, it's probably his won't give up attitude. No matter how many times he misses shots on goal, he's always there to have another pop. So glad he's banging in the goals in Spain.

Rugby:

Johna Lomu (NZ & Wellington) - The guy was phenomenal at his peak, watching him just brush off 4 - 5 grown mean and sometimes dragging two others was a sight to behold.

Joe Rockocko (NZ & Auckland) - Had the pleasure of meeting this guy in person. He's a phenomenal try scorer, he's scored something like 27 tries in 24 games. I love watching him play.

Shane Williams (Wales & Ospreys) - This is the guy I modelled myself on while I was playing rugby. We both play in the same position, he's not physically built like other players (just like me) so by using speed and agility he more than makes up for it, which is what I learnt from him.

Chris Czekaj (Wales & Ospreys) - I get a real kick out of watching him play since he's the same age as me, and we used to be big rivals in the local schools teams. I always raised my game against him, and even though my team usually lost, I was normally our best player because I could cope so well with this kid... even to the point they moved him away from me. One time we even got into a scrap and I knocked him on his ass. He now plays professionally and got his first International match against Canada a few months ago... It could have been me! lol

NHL:
Mike Modano - The captain of my team the Dallas Stars, cant remember much about him since it's been ages since I watched hockey, but I was so glad when he re signed. Can't wait till the hockey season begins.

Travis Brigley - This guy plays for the Colorado Avalanche I think. Reason I like him is because he used to play for my local hockey team the Cardiff Devils, and I have my shirt signed by him!

MLB: I haven't watched baseball in a long time but I used to like Pedro Guerrero and Tim Raines.


NHL: Never watched it in my life.

NFL: Randy Moss, Chad Pennington, Byron Leftwich, and Marc Bulger.

NBA: Don't watch it.

NHL: Jarome Iginla: Class act. I have been a fan for years and years.
Jordan Tootoo: The kid is tough, a little fighter.
Dan Cloutier: In the fight where he called on the Islanders bench, I lost it!

Pedro Martinez (untouchable for most of his career; now on my team the Mets)
Doc Gooden (another Mets guy)
Lenny Dykstra (called "Nails" for a reason, this guy was a tough S.O.B.)
Andy Van Slyke (went to H.S. with my parents, which is same H.S. I attended. He's a nice guy, too)
Mark Lemke (another hometown guy, great clutch performer for the Braves in their first few World Series)

Lawrence Taylor (best defensive player I've ever seen; changed the game and played on my team, the G-Men)

Tiki Barber (finally getting his due and is a nice guy off the field)
