| The MLB Season is Winding Down... ..So here are some random thoughts.. -First of all, I'm a HUGE Braves fan so I'll start with Andruw Jones and his MVP campaign. The guy is having a breakout year that's for sure. With Chipper's injury somebody had to step up and with all the rookies on the team as well. The only thing is, the rookies have done well in there, my man Francouer might actually win the rookie of the year award with not a whole lot of games played, and Andruw is only hitting .270 even though he has 45 homers with 114 RBIs.. That's not going to help him against Pujols with a .330 average but Andruw does play a gold glove center field which some people forget...Andruw has also a ton of game winning hits this season, so I think it'll be close. Derek Lee is no longer a canidate with the Cubbies struggling but someone that people forget is Miguel Cabrera who has an outside shot.. -As far as the American League MVP goes I have to go with David Ortiz. A-Rod has the numbers as well but to me, an MVP award is more about what you've done to help the team win games and I'm not sure anyone in either league has been more clutch than Ortiz. With the game on the line he's flat out scary.. This will also be close. -I went to the Red Sox/Angels game the other day at Fenway and all I have to say is.. Number one, that is a tremendous home field advantage the Sox have there.. The atmosphere is incredible and number two, the Sox are SO much better than the Angels.. The Angels are a tough little team but nowhere near the team that won the series in 2002. -I LOVE this Red Sox team to make it very far if not win it all again.. I know the rotation seems a bit shaky right now, but I think it will get better and the lineup cannot be pitched to by anyone.. It doesn't matter if it's the A's staff, The White Sox staff, they hit everyone.. -The Yankees.. Well, they just can't beat the D-Rays can they? They can look back on that if they don't make the playoffs. The team is funny though. Right now they are a half game behind the Indians, it'll be interesting to see if the Indians can play well for the rest of the month here, but what's funny is that if the Yanks DO make the playoffs, you just know they'll be the most dangerous team outside of the Sox.. I mean, you just know this team can win it all, but they've just struggled all year with Johnson not being as good, and Mussina and then the injuries..Their lineup also, just can't be pitched to on a daily basis. I think the Sox lineup is better, more consistant, but the Yanks aren't far off. -I think Carpenter has wrapped up the NL CY Young -These wild card races ar really heating up here.. I'm excited for these next few weeks. | |||||||||||||||

| My predictions for the rest of the season: The Yankees will win the AL wild card The Angles will win the AL West The Marlins will win the NL wildcard A-Rod will be the AL MVP Albert Pujols will be the NL MVP Bartolo Colon will win the AL Cy Young Award Chris Carpenter will win the NL Cy Young Award I think the following teams have a legitimate shot to win it all: Boston New York Anaheim Florida St. Louis Even Anaheim is a little iffy to me...I'd say one of those 4 will win it all. If you put a gun to my head and asked me to choose, I'd go with....Florida. Dontrelle, Beckett, and Burnett is better than any other starting trio among the playoff teams, with the possible exception of Buehrle, Garland, and Garcia in Chicago. And the Marlins can hit too. I'll go with the Marlins | |||||||||||||||

| I think if you put a gun to my head right now, I'd have to pick the Red Sox. I know you don't want to hear it D, but I just can't see anyone beating them in Boston except the Yankees.. Teams just go there and get stomped.. Their pitching is real iffy, but they just find a way to get the big hits when they need them. I do think the Yankees will out last the Indians and A's in the Wild Card.. and I think the ALCS might even be another Yanks/Sox classic.. However, game 7 in Boston I'm going with the Sox on that one.. BTW, I really think the Braves could win the National League. You guys might laugh, but I could see a scenerio where The Marlins beat the Cardinals with pitching while the Braves sweep past the Padres, and then the Braves beat the Marlins in 6 or 7 games. They know how to play the Marlins. | |||||||||||||||

| Blitz, I like the Braves, I really do. (Well, not really, but for arguments sake, just assume I do) They made the playoffs every year since 1991. And they won the World Series once. Is this Braves team. This Braves team is probably near the bottom of the most talented Braves teams of the last 15 years (and that's only because they've been so good for all those years). If they couldnt get it done with Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz in their primes, plus a young Kevin Millwood in the rotation, plus Chipper in his prime and a young Andruw Jones...I dont see it happening this year. | |||||||||||||||

| I didn't say they could win the series I said they could win the National league, which they have done quite a few times during this run.. They can just never beat the AL champion, only the Indians.. They've had terrible bullpens over the years that have cost them, and this would be another year where the bullpen could do such a thing.. Watch out though, lots of young studs on the team now. The Braves might keep this div. on lock for another 5 years.. haha.. It's nuts. But they DO need to win another championship. Fuck.. | |||||||||||||||
