Question:

Is a personal trainer worth it if I can afford the cost?

I find myself needing to work areas that I don't know certain routines for and I have had someone offer me their services.

Or should I just stick to looking stuff up on the web and doing it on my own?

How much do trainers cost in general?

Well, if you have a friend who's an avid exerciser, you might wanna consult him or her. I can give you lifting pointers, but not much else.

I would never go to a personal trainer, but that's just me. I see it as a waste of money. Sometimes they'll show you some different exercises, and they're good for people just starting out who don't know what they're doing. But if you can avoid paying for it, I would recommend it

Ok thanks for the tip D.

They've offered a free consultation.

I was considering checking it out, but now I think I will avoid it.

Damn D, we're pretty equal in terms of size. I'm 6-2 and currently weigh 205.

I have a ROM advantage but but not an over all mass advantage. It will take me years before I get anywhere near that mark.

eh, if it's a free consultation, you might as well go check it out. Then just tell them you wanna think about it before you agree to pay for anything

Then look around and see what free advice you can get. If it doesnt seem adequate for you, and the personal training seems affordable, you can keep that option open.

Although I think it's a waste of money, it doesnt hurt to go hear what they have to say if it won't cost you anything

I agree, I am just anticipating a pressure tatic visit where it's free but they constantly pressure you to sign up for something. I am not into that....I'm still mulling it over so I will give it some thought and go from there.

I agree with your point though.

"free consultation" usually always means a fitness and stress test along with measuring your body weight and BF %, heart rate, showing you what your target is and disgussing your goals and then trying to get your moeny by explaining to the many reasons why you need a trainer.

Yup, that is what I was anticipating.

Either way I won't have time to do it tonight, I have two papers to write for a class and some work on a project at my job I have to finish up not to mention a million other things at home.

I may go talk to them tomorrow....I am thinking it over.

I just called them and started the process to set up one.

Until they informed me the cost of training sessions would be $32 a session at 3 times a week.

I am on a tight budget right now so I would rather just pay a gym fee for the same amount and go about it on my own.

I have someone to help me as well.

I thank you all for the advice.
