Edmonton OilersAgreed to terms with goaltender Jussi Markkanen on a two-year contract and defenseman Igor Ulanov on a one-year contract.
Colorado AvalancheSigned left wing Brad May, who had been with the Vancouver Canucks, to a two-year contract.
Toronto Maple LeafsSigned right wing Tie Domi to a two-year contract.
Vancouver CanucksRe-signed center Brendan Morrison to a three-year contract.
Washington CapitalsAgreed to terms with left wing Alexander Ovechkin, their first-round pick in 2004, on a three-year contract.

Calgary FlamesRe-signed defenseman Jordan Leopold and center Daymond Langkow.
Chicago BlackhawksSigned defenseman Jaroslav Spacek, who had been with the Columbus Blue Jackets, to a two-year contract and right wing Martin Lapointe, who had been with the Boston Bruins, to a three-year contract.
Detroit Red WingsRe-signed defenseman Chris Chelios to a one-year contract and defenseman Mathieu Schneider to a two-year contract; signed center Johan Franzen to a one-year contract.

Toronto says they are going through a building year, so no cup plans this season. That makes no sense. Everyone should want to go after the cup each and every season.

Oh well. I hate the Leafs.
