I think it will take a couple of years before they start to make an impact but they won't be as awful as recent years. But really was playing so awful a bad thing with all the great future stars they got out of it? But it will take some time for those players to develop in the NHL and then the veterans of the team are getting up there in age and can't go full throttle anymore. But the experience they will offer in the locker room will benefit guys like Crosby a lot.

-----------------------

The Capitals are going to be so pathetic this year. It is like a minor team playing in the NHL. Ovechkin won't be able to carry a whole team. Especially when he has a little bit of an attitude and no protection. I expect him to be made road kill a lot this year.

Pens are interested in Curtis Joseph I heard the other day and he was said to be "intrigued" by the team.

Anybody know if this man still has something left to offer? I don't remember what he looked like in the '03-'04 season..

On a side note, I'm not expecting much out of the Pens this year, I'm just happy they are spending some money and have picked up a few key guys in the draft as well as free agency..

Joseph is good in the regular season but he would be the last goalie I want on my team in the playoffs.

And isn't it time for Fleury to start getting real playing time?

Yes..I'm not saying if they got Joseph it'd be a good move, I was just wondering how much he has left in the tank, he's like 38 years old.

Yeah, I guess I didn't consider he could be playing backup someplace. I'm just too used to seeing him be such a leader on any team he's been on. I'm also now forgetting about Detroit.

More wise words from a Flames backer :erm2:

Watch out for the Capitals in a year or so, they will significantly improve this season over last, it will be inane if they don't. But Spin you fool, you need to look at their prospects....have you done that yet? Huh? Huh?

Ovechkin of course, Eric Fehr (57 goals in junior), Tomas Fleischmann (incredible intelligence and poise), Jared Aulin (PK/Faceoff extraordinaire), Chris Bourque (Ray's son/gamble), Boyd Gordon, Miroslav Zalesak (ripped up the AHL), Brooks Laich, and two potential franchise goalies in Maxime Ouellet, and Rastislav Stana.

That's a good core of youth right there baby, and it's only going to get better.

Who does Calgary have...aside from Dion Phaneuf?

Oh this just in...Caps just acquired that piece of shit Chris Clark from Calgary, maybe you're right now..

Um...

Reading those last two posts, have basically proved the point that Jocelyn Thibault is the most underrated goaltender in the league. For a goalie that faced an average of about 1600-1700 shots a year on a team with absolute shit everywhere else on the ice but goal, I think he faired quite well (Twenty shutouts over three seasons, and twenty-nine totalled in 5 1/2 years).

Just remember, if goaltenders were still allowed to be captains, the Hawks would have just traded theirs away. I would have creamed my jeans had he landed up in Edmonton.

Bouchie you should be ashamed those words, just because Khabby rolled into town let the Joss bashing commence. Just remember it was Thibault that single handedly gave the Hawks they're only playoff appearance over the past eight seasons. Blitz, be grateful the Penguins finally have someone to tutor young Marc-Andre to become the perennial Vezina candidate he will be.
