England captain Michael Vaughan returned to the nets on Friday, but still faces a race against time to be fit for the first Test against India after his knee injury.

Vaughan has been forced to miss England's final tour match against an Indian Board President's XI in Baroda due to his knee injury.

After having an injection in the knee, Vaughan says he must wait to see the full effects of the treatment before he will know how serious his problem is.


Indian Test discard Gautam Gambhir sent a reminder to the selectors by taking a century off England's bowlers on the second day of the final warm-up game.

The left hander, who has been dropped for Wasim Jaffer in India's squad for the first Test, struck 108 to allow the Board President's XI to declare at 342-8 late on the second day.
