After the wild 11-10 win over the Rangers and the Sox losing 3-1 to the D-Rays, the Yanks have taken over the lead in the AL East. The Orioles won last night as well, so we have the Yanks in 1st, and the Sox and O's tied for 2nd..a half game back. So where do you guys think the East stands of right now? It would appear that the Sox are struggling, The O's are treading water, and the Yanks are catching fire, but do you really think that's the case? I still see a ton of problems will all three teams. I think the O's will be out of the race by mid-August for one, no pitching. Then you have the Yanks who need a starter, and the Sox who need a starter and maybe even a middle reliever.. The Sox will get Schilling back in the rotation to halp out..so I don't know. When all is said and done, I think only one of these teams will make the playoffs. The Indians have the weakest schedule to end the season anyone could have, and the Twins will beat up on the Tigers and Royals for the rest of the year.. It'll be interesting to watch anyway..

But here's bold statement #1: At least one of those teams will not make it to the ALCS. I think the Angels will beat whoever they play in the Division Series

That shit wont hold up forever. It is good to see Giambi with his swing back. He is like the only Yankee that I like. Well, him and Donny Baseball, but thats another story altogether. (I actually had a Don Mattingly shirt when I was younger, thats how much I loved his game.......still HATED the Yankees though)

Losing Wang really hurts. He was everything the Yankees have been looking for in a pitcher in recent years. Young, good stuff, and most importantly, he was not affected by the pressure of playing for the Yankees. From here on out, the Yankees basically need to win almost every start that Moose and Johnson make. Then, if they can win one of the other three per week, they'll be in decent shape. It's also hard for me to believe that a line-up as good as the Yankees won't win these slugfests here and there when their other 3 pitchers start. Their top 5 hitters are all batting over .300, and Giambi might get there by the end of the year. Plus, Posada is no slouch batting in the 7th spot. Am I convinced that the Yankees will get to the postseason? No. But I still think they have the talent to get there. Interesting stat: Although he doesnt yet have the minimum required at-bats (he's only a few under the mimimum), when he does get there, Giambi will have the highest OBP in the AL.

The Yanks or Sox or O's better hope they win the division, cuz I really don't think it's going to be easy to get that wild card.. As far as the Angels go..I agree with D. If I had to pick a world series right now, I'd have to go with Cardinals vs. Angels..Both teams have zero problems and are just rolling right along.. They have no weaknesses that could be exploited by other teams in their league..Of course the Yanks and Sox could go out and get help before the deadline, so we'll see. On a side note, Does anyone believe the White Sox are for real? They've been awesome all year, but I keep thinking back to when the Mariners won 116 games and then fell apart in the playoffs.

I realize its only half a game, but if the Twins keep slipping, the AL East could easily pull away

The talent and payroll flexibility will not allow otherwise. I love Clevelands team this year too though. Peralta, Crisp and the entire pitching staff are playing certainly better than this fool expected. Anahiem is overrated. If Texas could get some pitching they would be stylin and profilin
